Susan St. John 12/26/2025

Susan K. St. John, age 76, passed away on December 26, 2025 at the St. Croix Health and Rehab Center following a long illness, with her husband Robert “Bob” by her side.

Born July 2, 1949, in Minneapolis, Sue was the daughter of Thomas and Vivian Vasey. She attended Regina High School and later the University of Minnesota.

Sue completed radiology training at the VA in Minneapolis and began a career of over 40 years at Holy Family Hospital, now Westfields, where she mentored many radiologic technologists and played a key role in expanding the department beyond traditional radiology to include advanced imaging modalities that had previously been available only through mobile units. Quality and pride in work were hallmarks of her dedication.

Sue enjoyed reading, music played loud, good food, and moments of laughter and joy. Time at the lake with friends was especially meaningful. She also found adventure through “Auntie’s Jewelry Box”, a side business that brought many memorable experiences.

Sue and Bob’s love story began under unexpected circumstances when they met at the hospital after Bob’s tubing accident on the Apple River. Their bond blossomed into a deep partnership that lasted for an incredible 44 years. Together, they traveled the world, exploring breathtaking destinations from Aruba to Alaska, Hawaii to the Dominican Republic, Venezuela to Costa Rica.

Sue is survived by her husband Bob and many friends who valued her friendship, intelligence, mentorship, humor, and unmistakable presence. She will be remembered for her professional impact and a life lived on her own terms.

Bob and Sue’s friends would like to thank the St. Croix Health Center and Lakeview Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.

A  Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Anne’s Catholic Church (141 Church Hill Road) in Somerset, WI.  Visitation was Thursday from 10:00-11:00 am at church.  Private interment is in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Croix Health and Rehab Center, St. Anne’s Church or Lakeview Hospice.

Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

I absolutely will love and cherish our memories forever. Sue was something special. She and I would always sing “can’t touch this” by mc hammer every morning with us dancing away and our smiles from ear to ear. She was so incredibly intelligent, sweet and she really showed me the courage to chase my dreams. Goodbyes are always bittersweet. Prayers for all her loved ones. 🤍

I worked with Sue for many years at the hospital. I had many conversations with her in her office about life’s struggles. She was always supportive and kind to me and a true professional in her craft.

I didn’t know Sue for a long time but for the time I did she definitely made a lasting impression on me! We would sing and dance to “ Im a gummy bear” laughing are heads off. Her and Bobs love for echother was amazing, I often walked Bob over to the bed so they could chat and they always would give hugs and kisses. She was also so caring, one time I was having a rough day running around sweating and the second I went in there she told me to sit and take a break have a few gummy bears 😆. She was such an amazing woman her laughter was contagious. She put up a long painful fight and may her memory be a blessing. Rest peacefully Sue.
