Wilma Schachtner 03/20/2019

Wilma Mary Schachtner, age 95, of Somerset died Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the St. Croix Health Center in New Richmond. On January 23, 1945, she married Fred V. Schachtner. The couple moved from Scranton, Iowa to Somerset, Wisconsin March 1, 1952, where they would farm and raise their family. She is survived by her children, Pat (Dave) Wachter, Ed (Therese), Marilyn (Leon) Voeltz, Ron, Janet (Greg) Mondry, David (Cathy), Karen (Bob) Sahnow, Joan (Vic) Caneff, Gary (Paula); 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; siblings Alvina McAnany, Ron (Donna) Wiederin; brothers-in-law, Harold and Gerald (Helen) Schachtner; sisters-in-law, Phylis, Jeanne, and Rosemary Wiederin, Helen Johnson; many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Fred; children, James, Darlene; daughter-in-law Kathy; siblings, Eleanor, Wilbur, Mary Ann, Marty, Lois, John and Edward. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Somerset. Visitation was held Friday, March 22, 2019 from 4-8 pm at St. Anne’s and also on Saturday from 10-11 am before the service. Interment was in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
