William “Bill” Shirley 05/15/2018

William “Bill” Shirley, age 82 of North Hudson, WI, died in his home on Tuesday afternoon, May 15, 2018 after listening to scripture from Romans and receiving his last rites.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marlice; his daughters, Lynne (Oscar Marino), Jeanne Hallquist (Calvin Rowland), and JoAnne (Todd Hinchliffe); his grandchildren, Sgt. Austin Hallquist, Blake Hallquist, Courtney Hinchliffe, Emily Thorsheim, Oscar Alberto Marino, and Mateo Marino; brother-in-law, Bob (Sharon) Bratrud; and brother, Jim (Linda) Shirley.  Bill was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson, served in the Army in Heidelberg, Germany from 1959-1961, then returned to Hudson and worked for Nor-Lake for 44 years.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.  He spent countless hours teaching younger generations the basics of firearm handling through 41 years of the BB Gun Program, and 35 years of Hunter Safety.  After his retirement from Nor-Lake he discovered his gift and love of woodworking, specifically the art form of intarsia.  The beauty of his woodworking skills are displayed in many homes in the Hudson area and beyond.  A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 11 am at Trinity Lutheran Church 1205 6th Street Hudson, WI.  Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 5-8 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church and also on Wednesday from 10-11 am.  Interment was in Willow River Cemetery at 6 pm on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.  Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or We Do Feet.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Hudson.
