Wendy Gregerson 02/03/2021

Wendy Kay (Manlove) Gregerson passed away peacefully at her home in Amery, Wisconsin, at the age of 67. Her loving husband, Rich Gregerson, at her side after a long valiant struggle with cancer.

She was born to Donald and Donna (Wombill) Manlove on July 18, 1953, in St Paul, Minnesota. She was the youngest of three kids, next in line are her two brothers, Wayne and then Jeff. She attended school in the Mounds View District until moving to Hudson, Wisconsin, for her last two years of high school and graduating with the Class of 1971. Her parents owned what is now the Hudson Ford Dealership when she was growing up. In later years that was sold and her family purchased the Amery Ford Dealership, where her mom and brothers worked until their retirement.

She and Rich had a beautiful marriage of 24 years. They resided in New Richmond for many years while traveling with the band Rich directed for many years. You would often see them arm in arm towards the front of the band. In 2010 they both retired from the New Richmond School District where Wendy worked in the library for many years. After retirement, they spent their summers at their home in Amery, Wisconsin, on the Apple River and the winters in Mazatlan, Mexico where she enjoyed many ocean sunsets from the roof of their condo and lunches in the sand. Wendy loved her walks on the Malecon, collecting shells, painting, paddle boarding, volunteering, listening to Rich play his trumpet at church, dressing up for the Mexican holidays, and spending time with friends.

She was blessed with three children, Christa, Luke, and David, along with two step-children Amber and Avril. She loved spending time with her grandkids and family. Her biggest joy was babysitting her grandchildren in the months they were back in Wisconsin and having them travel to her favorite place, her Maztatlan home!

Wendy was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Donna Manlove, father-in-law Keith Gregerson and grandson Levi Edin. She is survived by husband Rich Gregerson, mother-in-law Marvel Gregerson, brothers Wayne {Geri} Manlove and Jeff {Debbie} Manlove, her children Christa Edin {Bill}, Luke {Ashley} Edin, David {Christi} Edin, Amber Dahl {Joe}, and Avril {Jason} Wood; Grandchildren Michaela Blaser, Merisa Blaser, Violet Edin, Lila Edin, Emma Edin, Ian Peterson, Sophia Edin, Brandon Dahl, Jacob Wood, Courtney Wood; along with many cousins and other relatives.

A memorial visitation was held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (728 S Knowles Ave.) in New Richmond.  A private family memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm.  A private interment will be held at a later date in the Baldwin Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a monetary donation to Wendy’s favorite charities.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

When my kids were in marching band, I had the opportunity to serve as a chaperone on many band trips and did a lot of the videotaping for the band. I always enjoyed traveling with Rich and Wendy on the trips and helping to make the Tiger Marching Band one of the best. My heart goes out to you Rich and family members for your loss of a very nice lady. May God comfort you in your days ahead.

For my sis: I remember growing up on Galtier Street and walking around at night with our friends. We’d play kick the can and other games- it was so much fun. At Halloween we’d walk through the neighborhood and fill our pillowcases full of candy. One time it rained and the roads froze- we skated and sled about. I remember our move into the house with the pool in the basement- awe the good ole days! At the cabin you caught a turtle and named it Seymour- Wendy, you were always so kind and fun. We shared in the trials, as well as celebrations once we became adults. I will miss you always, sis. Be at peace. -your brother Jeff

Wendy had a sweet smile and personality to match. We spent many 4th of July pool parties together with family at our house in Hudson, then her and Rich took over and we had many more at their house on the Apple river in Amery. Wendy was health nut, and I will never forget the kindness she showed, by giving my wife ,Geri, a recipe for some bone marrow soup to make me, as I was recovering from surgery. I can say it now, it was horrible, but God bless her for the thought. We miss you and Love you Wendy.

Wendy was a life long friend of mine. We would walk to school together every day, we only had a half of a block to go but still met each morning to head in together. We were in each other’s wedding, we had many wonderful trips together with our other close friends. I had the pleasure of visiting her in Mexico in 2015 we had such a great time. She was one in a million, a true friend and confidant. She fought her illness so bravely and remaining upbeat until the end. I had the honor of visiting her the day she got her angel wings , she gave me a big hug it was so hard to let go. Wendy you are forever in my heart. My deepest sympathy to Rich, Christa, Luke, David, Jeff, Wayne and her precious grandchildren. RIP dear friend!!

Always enjoyed painting class with Wendy and sharing coffee time with her, as she shared stories of her family, in Mazatlan. Sunday’s were ‘best day of the week’ in Maz as Wendy listened to her Rich play at the Blue Church in Mazatlan. We were all blessed to have had that time in Mazatlan with beautiful Wendy.
