Walter Andersen

Walter E. Andersen, age 81, of New Richmond, WI passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at the Comforts of Home in Hudson, WI.  Walter was born to Viggo and Frances (Gaustad) Andersen on July 28, 1941, in New Richmond. He grew up on his family farm with his two brothers in Baldwin, WI. He was drafted into the Army on January 8, 1964. He served in munitions with the Military police in Giesen, Germany and was honorably discharged on December 28, 1965. 

After returning from the Army, Walter met the love of his life, Rita Milliron.  Walter and Rita were married at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Richmond, WI on July 1, 1967, and were blessed with two sons, George (Tage) and Terry. 

Walter and Rita made their home in the New Richmond area. Walter worked for Andersen Windows for a short time before dairy farming. They retired from dairy farming in the early 2000’s. He adored the outdoors, gardening, farming, hunting and fishing all year round. Walter also served on the Stanton town board for several years.  

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Viggo and Frances Andersen; his brother, Paul Andersen; and his son, George (Tage) Andersen. 

Walter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rita; his son, Terry (Paula) Andersen; his granddaughters, Megan, Jaclyn and Brooke; his brother, Harry (Donna) Andersen; as well as, many loving nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. 

A private family ceremony / celebration of life will be held. Arrangements are with Cullen Crea Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family to be used at their discretion would be appreciated.
