Wallace “Wally” Johnson 04/19/2015

Wallace F. “Wally” Johnson  died peacefully in his sleep on  Sunday, April 19th, 2015 at the age of 91.
Wally was born on July 7, 1923 in Valley Springs South Dakota.  He worked for the 3Cs before joining the U.S. Navy in 1942.  He served in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign during World War II, participating in five D-Days.  After an Honorable Discharge he worked for the U.S. Corps of Engineers, as a a captain of the tug Duluth in the Duluth, MN and Superior, WI harbor.
He married the love of his life, JoAnne M. Johnson and had two children, daughter Melody (Frank) Lavelle of Lancaster, WI and son Craig (Sarah) Johnson of New Richmond, WI.  He was a proud grandpa to Rusty Lavelle, Megan (George) Kutterna, Natalie, Zach, and Zeb Johnson.  He was also a proud great grandpa to “Little” George Kutterna.
Wally was a generous, quiet man who loved to fish, garden and watch the Brewers. He will be missed by his family and those who had a chance to see the sparkle in his eyes.
A short Celebration of Life Service was 3 pm Saturday April 25th at The Deerfield Chapel.  Visitation was at 2 pm All are welcome to attend and celebrate Wally’s life. 
The family would like to thank The Deerfield and Westfield Hospital staff for their care and dedication. Cremation services provided by Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
