Victoria Lee Purdue (Sherry), a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, at the age of 80, in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Born on March 9, 1944, in Los Angeles, California, and raised on the Minnesota Iron Range. Victoria lived a life full of creativity, love and dedication to her family and passions. She had an unwavering love for God and a deep affection for the ocean.
Victoria pursued her passion for art by attending art school at San Diego State University and became a talented painter known for her unique and expressive works. Her creativity didn’t stop at the canvas; she also channeled her entrepreneurial spirit into starting a small consignment shop in Lompoc, California, bringing joy to many.
She was married to Lando (Tony) Harris in Santa Barbara, California in 1962 the father of her children, Cosette Harris, Brett Harris, Scott Harris, and Brook Harris. She later married Dave Purdue in 1983 and together they traveled and eventually called Minnesota home.
Their kids relocated from California to both Minnesota and Wisconsin. Victoria’s (Sherry’s) legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Jessica Harris, Heather Harris, Corrine Harris, Summer Harris, Brook Harris, Brett Harris Jr., Anabella Harris, Jacob Harris, Seth Harris, and Levi Harris; along with six great-grandchildren.
Victoria is preceded in death by her husband, David Purdue; her parents, Mary Austin and Victor Van Breene; and her first husband, Tony (Lando) Harris. She is survived by her sister, Cindy (Paul) Deren; her brother, Peter (Jen) Austin; and many great nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughter, Cosette Harris; son, Brett Harris; son, Scott Harris, partner (Tiffany Laszlo); son, Brook Harris, wife (Rebecca) Harris; and their families.
Her life was a testament to the power of art, family and the love of God. She touched the lives of many with her kindness, creativity, and unwavering love.
Victoria’s memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Memorial services were held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, St. Paul, Minnesota, Thursday, February 27, 2025, Assembly Lane #2 at 12:45 PM.
