Ursula Lubich 12/15/2023

Ursula M. (Jansa) Lubich, age 97 of River Falls, WI, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Kinnic Health Nursing Home and Rehab.

She was born the daughter of John and Ursula (Shallbetter) Jansa on August 15, 1926, in the village of Cherma, River Falls Township. She married her loving husband, Roman Lubich on June 15, 1948. Together in their union, Ursula and Roman had 10 beloved children. She was passionate about her family and loved each and every one of them. She was a teacher and a role model to her family and taught them all a hard work ethic. She was an active member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and lived her life for God. She was involved with the church with the Martha Group, Wedding and Funeral group, the Euchre Group, St. Bridget Fall Festival and was a Eucharistic Minister.

In her younger years she worked at Langwear Overall Factory, and she was a 4-H leader for the Donnegal Do-Gooders. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the St. Croix Valley Collector’s Association, and worked at the Kinnickinnic Township elections.

Ursula had many hobbies that she loved while raising her big family. She enjoyed working in her large garden and canning from her garden. She had a knack for making beautiful quilts for her family and with her family, and with the Martha Group to make quilts to give to the homeless in St. Paul.

Baking was another love for Ursula and she enjoyed a good recipe, as well as sharing them with others. Making kolaches with her family was always a tradition. When not in the kitchen, Ursula enjoyed a good game of Euchre, going to an old tyme dance with Roman, refinishing furniture, watching the wildlife in her yard and visiting friends and relatives.

Ursula always had coffee and food or a dessert for anyone who stopped by. No one left hungry. She loved her house full of grandchildren and great-grandchildren to babysit. She was a kindhearted, giving person, always asking what she could do for others and thinking of herself last.

Ursula is survived by her sons, Terry (Kris), Mike (Grace), Peter (Debbie), Tom (Rhea), and Todd (Jennie Sue); daughters, Sharon (David) Andress, Karen (Ron) Johnson, and Melanie (Barry) Heltne; daughters-in-law, Sandy Lubich and Toni (Steve) Matz; 26 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Ursula was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Roman; sons, John and David; grandson, Clinton Lubich; great- grandson, Dakota Mankus; and Kate Block, granddaughter-in-law; brothers and sisters-in-law, Arnold (Mary), Phillip, John (Alice) Jansa and Louis (Angela) Jansa; and many Lubich in-laws.
