Timothy Michael Engel passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024 after suffering several years with metastatic melanoma. Tim was born in River Falls, Wisconsin on July 8, 1957, to William and Norma Engel. He graduated from River Falls High School in 1976. At an early age, Tim started working at Malmer’s Red and White grocery store in River Falls. After Malmer’s closed, Tim went to work at Dale’s IGA which later became Dick’s Fresh Market. Tim was employed by the Rinehart family for over 40 years having retired in January 2023. Tim loved to hunt and fish and was known to be a “fish whisperer”. He was an outstanding fisherman and hunter and excelled in both those hobbies. On September 12, 1981, Tim married Karen Huppert. Even though Tim and Karen had full-time jobs, they worked side by side for many years at the Gas-Lite bar and restaurant which was owned by Karen’s family. Tim had a great love for the outdoors and took great pride in his yard and also planting produce gardens with his brother-in-law Bill Huppert. Tim is survived by his wife Karen, his brother Randy (Mary) Engel and sister Susan Engel. He is also survived by sister-in-laws Barb (Larry) Lother and Mary Ann (Mickey) Lynnes and brother-in-laws Bill (Cindy) Huppert and Pete (Barb) Huppert, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Tim is preceded in death by his parents, William and Norma Engel, his father-in-law Peter Huppert, mother-in-law Marge Huppert, and his grandparents George and Annie Engel and Roy and Irene Thompson. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 12:00 noon at St. Bridget Catholic Church (211 E Division St.) in River Falls. Visitation was also Friday from 10:00-12:00 at the church. Following the service a celebration of Tim’s life took place at Ridgetop Banquet Facility (W10516 Hwy 10) in Prescott. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services

Tim was a great guy, we would talk fishing and what ever when I stopped in the store. He was the reason I shopped at Dick’s. I will miss his smile and laugh.

Tim was the hardest worker I’ve ever known. He always greeted me with a smile and his nickname “Kate the Snake.” Sending all my love to Karen.
