Tim Peters 01/07/2019

Tim L. Peters, age 62, of New Richmond passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul surrounded by his loved ones. He was born the son of John and Muriel (Hanson) Peters on August 8, 1956 at Holy Family Hospital in New Richmond. Tim grew up near Mary Park and graduated from New Richmond High School with the class of 1975. In high school, Tim ran track, and played basketball and football. During high school, he worked at the Gem Movie Theatre. He ran the films, sold the movie tickets and the popcorn. He also worked for New Richmond City Parks Department. He trimmed trees and mowed lawns. He helped to build the Nature Center Park located today near Cty A / Hwy 64. He worked at the outdoor pool and ran the warming house at the skating rink in the winter.

After high School, Tim worked as a tree trimmer for Haines Tree Service in Stillwater. He loved working outdoors, didn’t mind the cold. Once, Tim wore a stocking cap to work. His boss sent everyone home because it must be too cold to work, if Tim had to wear a hat!

While working as summer help at Andersen’s, he attended UW RF studying toward a major in Psychology. He was fortunate to take a Quarter Abroad Study of the Juvenile Delinquency Programs in other countries. He traveled to Greece, France, and Germany and even worked on the island of Crete spraying orange trees. He enjoyed a short stay in Amsterdam. In 1978, Tim began working full time in the factory at Andersen Windows. During this time, he met Mary Ann in White Bear Lake, MN. His focus then changed to a career at Andersen’s. After 28 years, he became a Parts Expeditor in Service Department for Andersen Windows. He was a proud and very dedicated employee for 38 years.
Tim and Mary Ann were married in Cambridge, MN in November of 1979. They moved to Williston, ND where he worked in the oil fields while on layoff from Andersen. They returned and moved to Star Prairie, WI in 1981. They made one more move to Oakridge Estates, New Richmond in 1989.
Tim was a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers and WI Badgers (basketball and football teams). He watched NR Tiger Football, Basketball, volleyball games and music and track events to watch his children and/or his nephews.

Tim was a current member of the Board of Trustees at the United Methodist Church in New Richmond. Tim enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends. He loved his river views found in his own backyard. He treasured his family, but his grandchildren were the light of his life. He will be remembered by many as a very kind and generous man.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Jabs); children, Nate (Kelli) Peters, Kimber (Tyler) Murphy, Brianna (John) Sutton; grandchildren, Ryan Peters, Zachary Peters, Benjamin Murphy, Quinn Murphy, Remy Sutton, Dean Sutton; siblings, Kathy (Carl) Plahuta, Lauri (Jerry) Cran; many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins and friends.  Tim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Muriel and brother, Ralph Peters.

A funeral service was held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11:00 am at New Richmond United Methodist Church (209 E 2 nd St.). Visitation was also held Friday, January 11, 2019 from 4-7 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral and Cremation Services (728 S Knowles) in New Richmond and on Saturday from 10-11 am at the church. Interment was in the New Richmond Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral and Cremation Services.

So sad to hear of Tim’s passing. Condolences to the entire family and especially Mary Ann for the loss of such a great person. Will always remember the special visit to your place in New Richmond by the river. The riverside dinner we shared followed by the hot tub and a few brews was a special time.
