Thomas Richard Rajtar, age 64, of Minneapolis, MN passed away February 27, 2024.
Thomas “Tom or Tomasz” was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Richard and Leonarda Rajtar (Wroblewski) January 3, 1960. He attended St. Casimir Catholic School, Cleveland Junior High, and graduated from Johnson High School where he sang in the Madrigal Choir and was a member of the men’s swim team. He attended the University of Minnesota. Tom provided clerical support at Dayton’s in Minneapolis for many years. He served as a member of the Minnesota Army National Guard.
His passions were his heritage, as he became the Richard and Lenny Rajtar family historian. Tom had a passion for and was extremely knowledgeable in Polish and Russian history and was fluent in those languages. He danced with the Krakowiak Dancers (a family Polish dance group), and the Dolina Polish Folk Dancers. He was a wonderful Polka dance partner! Tom loved to sing and was a long-time choir member of both the Russian Orthodox Church and Skete of the Resurrection of Christ, and of St.
Panteleimon’s Russian Orthodox Church.
Tom was loving and caring, helping his former partner, Dennis Miller, his parents, and siblings whenever needed. Tom had a very devoted Christian faith and love of God. He was ferociously independent and did things his way. Tom was active in the political scene, watching world and local news and having spirited discussions on the topics of the day. Over the years, Tom became active in the Republican political party and served on the public housing board in his apartment complex. Tom would enthusiastically share his perspectives with everyone, was a conversationalist, with a wonderful sense of humor.
Preceded in death by: Richard and Leonarda Rajtar. He is survived by his siblings: Catherine, Elizabeth (Henryk) Dymus, Barbara (Douglas) Jacobson, Julia Rajtar, Victoria (Jeffrey) Earnest; Paul (Paula) Rajtar; uncle to Rachel Moris (fiancé James Huntley), Kevin and Trevor Martin, Christopher (Lexi) Dymus, Matthew (Courtney) Dymus, Amanda (fiancé Tanner Mock), Jarod and Joseph Earnest, and Sara Rajtar; and missed by close family friend Marceil Luedtke.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Casimir Church ( 929 E Jessamine Ave.) St. Paul, MN. Visitation was also held Friday from 10:00-11:00 am at the church.
