Thomas “Tom” Mitchell Frederickson was born in Rochester, MN, on December 31, 1959, to DeMaris and the late Jens Frederickson. Tom passed away peacefully at the age of 64, at his residence in St. Paul on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
Tom’s family moved to River Falls in 1967, where he graduated from River Falls High School. After high school, Tom continued working, spending most of his career in the service industry in management roles before dedicating more of his time to volunteer work with various community organizations.
Tom lived his life the way he wanted, and within the last couple of years, he found his ultimate calling, which began with his faith. In the past two years, Tom found happiness in volunteer work at a local elementary school through AmeriCorps, where he worked part-time, helping less fortunate children and guiding them in simple life lessons as a mentor. His faith in a higher power was evident to many who took the time for a quick conversation with him. His beliefs in God have given much of his family peace, knowing that Tom was happy before he passed.
Tom raised four children: Brad, Kristine, Brian, and Chelsie. When his kids were involved in youth sports, Tom enjoyed coaching youth baseball and supporting them during wrestling tournaments. He loved helping kids learn and succeed. Tom enjoyed watching Packer games (taking his kids outside to show them a real spiral during halftime), complaining about Minnesota Twins pitchers, taking walks just for the sake of walking, and going on local fishing trips with his kids. He cherished his grandchildren very much.
Tom is survived by his mother, DeMaris Frederickson; his children, Brad (Kristin) Frederickson, Kristine (Loveday) Orubo, Brian Frederickson, and Chelsie Frederickson; his brother, Timothy (Mary) Frederickson; his sisters, Rebecca K. Frederickson-Davis and Roberta (Bert) (Rob) Perkins; and his grandchildren, Knox Frederickson, Jack Frederickson, Sireah Orubo, and Micah Orubo. He is also survived by countless nieces and nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends. Tom is preceded in death by his father, Jens Frederickson, and his brother-in-law, Randy Davis.
A Celebration of Tom’s Life was held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 from 3-7 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 805 E Division Street River Falls, WI.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Tom’s favorite mission and his biggest dedication: Union Gospel Mission of St Paul 435 University Avenue East, St Paul, MN 55130. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
