Susan Lorch, age 73 of New Richmond, WI died on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Sue was born the daughter of Leander and Alberta (Bunge) Steinberger on December 20, 1949 in New Richmond, WI. She grew up in New Richmond, graduating from New Richmond High School with the class of 1968. She went to work for Northwestern Bell in St. Paul, MN where she met Thomas Lorch. On January 29, 1972, they were married at Immaculate Conception Church. Work brought their family to Silver Bay, MN, Coon Rapids, MN, and Denver, Co. During those years, Sue worked various jobs, but mostly focused on raising their children. In 2007, they retired to New Richmond. Sue was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She enjoyed bird watching, cooking and slot machines. She liked crafts, especially making jewelry. Sue was a “Survivor” fan and enjoyed many other reality TV shows. She was a strong willed, kind and caring woman. Sue loved being a grandma and adored her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Alberta Steinberger; brother, Dennis (Barb) Steinberger; and brother-in-law, Jim Venhor. Sue is survived by her husband Tom Lorch; children, Patrick (Nikki) Lorch, Jenni (Travis) Vanden Broeke; grandchildren, Brady and Sophia Lorch, Andrew, Aaron, Zach and Maddie Vanden Broeke; sisters, Sandy Venhor and Debbie(Scott) Mealey; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 12 noon at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 151 S Washington Ave New Richmond. Visitation was also on Tuesday from 11 am – 12 noon at the church. Interment was in the New Richmond Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
