Stewart Rivard 07/07/2020

Stewart H. Rivard, age 85, of Somerset died Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at the St. Croix Health Center. He was born the son to Oscar and Lilah (Redlich) Rivard on November 18, 1934 in St. Joseph Township. Stewart graduated from Somerset High School and went on to farm until the 1980’s. Following farming he began a career with the US Postal Service through the 1990’s. In retirement he spent many years selling his produce at the Farmer’s Market. Stewart loved local sports and attending all the football and basketball games. He enjoyed the outdoors by fishing, deer hunting, trapping and growing vegetables. He was known to study and read about many things before joining or getting involved with an activity. Stewart is survived by his brothers, Richard (Elizabeth), Harold (Theresa), James (Sharon); many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Lilah; sisters, Dorothy (William) Gleason, Shirley (Frances) Jasperson, Audrey (Marlowe) Lindau, Lorraine (Glen) Wickenhauser; brother, Donald Rivard. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 11:00 am at St. Anne’s Catholic Church (141 Church Hill Road) in Somerset. Visitation was also Saturday from 9-11 am at the Church, with guests suggested to wear face masks and practice physical distancing. Interment was in St. Anne’s Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Somerset Memorial Scholarship Fund. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
