Steven Linehan 08/02/2026

Steven Alan Linehan, age 69 of River Falls, WI, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026. Born on July 27, 1957, in Tawas City, Michigan, he later made River Falls, Wisconsin, his home, where he became an integral part of the community. Steve graduated from River Falls High School in 1975, where he served as Senior Class President. He attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, majoring in mathematics and economics. As an entrepreneur, he successfully owned and operated the Liquor Locker, a Dairy Queen and a Firehouse Subs franchise, and he was well-respected as a school bus driver, earning the recognition of “School Bus Driver of the Year” from the State of Wisconsin in 2013.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Patricia (Patsy) Linehan, and their three children, Tina Linehan, Alan (Amanda) Linehan, and Tony (Jenna) Linehan. He was a proud grandfather to six cherished grandchildren: Jaymeson, Ashelyn, Nolan, Myla, Sawyer, and Stevie Rae. He leaves behind his father, Dan Linehan; siblings, Jeffrey (Mary) Linehan, Susan (Chris) Myers, Kristine Neimy; nieces and nephews, Nik Linehan, Samantha Linehan, Aly (Matt) Hargrave, McKenna Neimy-Bailey, Brynn Myers, Tristan (Courtney) Myers, Cameron (Hanna) Myers, Taylor Myers, Valerie (Alan) Przybylski, Randy (Julie) Brickner, Theresa (Dan) Thom, Joanie (Bob) Heacox, as well as a wide circle of extended family and friends who will remember him for his kindness, patience, and unwavering support. Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Luanne Linehan; and nephew, Johnnie Brickner.

A devoted member of St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, Steve dedicated countless hours to the “Feed My Starving Children” program and taught CCD classes. Throughout his life, he was actively involved in the River Falls Chamber of Commerce, and his family was recognized as a River Falls Chamber Champion for their dedication to community service. Whether volunteering at events or engaging in fundraising efforts, Steve was a familiar and welcoming presence in River Falls, embodying the spirit of generosity and service.

Steve’s true joy was found in his family. The last five years spent at their cabin on Staples Lake created treasured memories, where he delighted in spending time with loved ones, whether manning the grill or enjoying afternoons on the pontoon. He was a hands-on father and grandfather, always eager to help with various tasks and attend events. His ability to organize and lead, coupled with an infectious sense of humor, made him a cherished figure in the lives of those who knew him.

Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 11 am at St. Bridget Church 211 E Division Street River Falls, WI. Visitation was Friday, August 7, 2026 from 4-7 pm at St. Bridget Church and on Saturday from 10-11 am before the service. Interment was in St. Bridget Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Bridget Church or the River Falls Food Pantry. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
