David Ludowese 11/22/2025

David “Dave” Ludowese, age 61, of Somerset, WI, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, November 22, 2025. He was born on September 30, 1964, in Stillwater, MN, to parents Earl and Edna Ludowese.
David grew up in a large, loving family surrounded by the brothers and sisters he cherished. In 1993, he married his wife, Jessica, and together they raised their two children, Chayse and Alexis, in Somerset. He proudly watched his son play football and loved having his daughter follow him everywhere he went. Family and home meant everything to him—he loved having land for the kids to run on and bonfires to enjoy with his wife. David was a devoted provider who made sure his children never went without. After the passing of his wife Jessica in 2014, he supported his children as they navigated grief together.
A hardworking man, David could fix just about anything. He was a mechanic for over 35 years and enjoyed helping family and friends with their vehicles. He could often be found in the garage, singing classic rock songs off-key while putzing around under the hood of a car. David had the time of his life drag racing, and he treasured the friendships and memories he made along the way.
He found love and companionship again with his significant other, Laura, who brought out his sense of adventure. Together they enjoyed vacations, new experiences, and making memories. David was overjoyed he became a grandfather. He called everyone he knew with updates about his grandson Kai’s health, proudly referring to him as the strongest boy he knew. He was excited to meet his newest grandson, Jesse, and deeply touched that his late wife’s memory would be honored through him. David spoke often about future plans with his grandchildren.
As David would always say, “I’m kind of a big deal.” And to everyone who knew him, he truly was. He was quick with a joke, comforting others in the way he knew best—by making them laugh. If you needed help, he was there without hesitation. Known for his playful personality, he loved giving people a hard time in the most loving, teasing way. His humor and big heart will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
David is preceded in death by his wife, Jessica; his parents, Earl and Edna; and his brothers Lonnie and Danny Ludowese. He is survived by his children, Chayse Ludowese (Emilie) and Alexis Krinke (Sean); his grandchildren, Kai and Jesse Ludowese; his significant other, Laura Lorentzen; and her children Ashley, Jordan, and Andrea. His siblings: Butch Ludowese (Char), Connie Nelson, Karen Jonk, Linda Nelson, Joey Ludowese (Mavis), Jay Ludowese (Teresa), Becky Ogren (Tom), Sandy Colombo (Mike), and Lenny Ludowese (Debbie); as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of David’s Life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 2-6 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 728 S Knowles Avenue New Richmond, WI.  Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Bayport, MN at a later date.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
