Ruth Wild 04/24/2018

Ruth Goss Wild, age 83, of River Falls, WI died peacefully in the company of family on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Kinnic Health and Rehab, River Falls. Ruth was born the daughter of Robert Farmiloe and Helen Lewis (Shotwell) Goss on November 2, 1934, in Berwyn, IL. She grew up in Minneapolis, MN, where she attended Bryn Mawr Elementary School and West High School. She received her B.A. in sociology from Carleton College (‘56), Northfield, MN, where she also participated in golf. She became a grade school teacher in Clarkston, MI, where she met Kurt Louis Wild. The two were married on June 28, 1958, at Plymouth Congregational Church, Minneapolis, MN. The couple moved to River Falls in 1960, and began a family. In addition to being a stay at home mother … raising four children, Ruth was also active in the River Falls community, particularly with American Association of University Women (UWRF), P.E.O., Bridge Club and the River Falls United Methodist Church. Ruth always enjoyed learning, and returned to college to study accounting at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, which allowed her to become the bookkeeper, among other roles, at the River Falls Golf Club for 27 years. Ruth enjoyed gardening, bird watching and family time at home; playing piano, bridge and golf with friends; and travelling, including making frequent trips to the family cabin near Spooner, WI. She had a fondness for the outdoors and a wonderment of nature, particularly for animals, but she saved a special place in her heart for dogs, especially boxers. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Kurt Wild. She is survived by her sister Mary (Harold) Peterson, and her four children: Laura (Mark) Osberghaus, Erik Wild (Paula Eterovick), Joanna (Michael) King and Alys Wild (Mark Lemke); five grandchildren, Susanna Osberghaus, Kirsten Osberghaus, Andrea Osberghaus, Helena Eterovick Wild and Daniel Eterovick Wild. Ruth graciously encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue their dreams whatever they may be, and supported them in numerous ways. The beauty, warmth, grace and joy felt in the presence of Ruth will be missed, but will undoubtedly continue on in those who experienced them. A memorial visitation was held Thursday, May 10 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (805 E Division St.) in River Falls. Memorials preferred to UW River Falls Scholarship Foundation for the Kurt and Ruth Wild Scholarship.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral and Cremation Services of River Falls.
