Ross Paul Korsgaard, age 86, died surrounded by family in River Falls on August 21, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pamela Weller Korsgaard of River Falls, Wisconsin, and two daughters: Katherine Ann Korsgaard (husband, Brian Jerome Hill) of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Kara Marie Korsgaard Rose (husband, Charles Benjamin Rose), and one grandson, Mitchell Charles Rose, of Roseville, Minnesota. Ross was preceded in death by his father, Paul Nelson Korsgaard of Highmore, South Dakota in 1961, his mother, Margaret Alice Rossman Korsgaard of Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1989, and his sister, Sister Mary Corda Korsgaard of Aberdeen, South Dakota in 2004. Ross was born May 12, 1926, in Anaheim, California. From age two to seventeen, he lived in Highmore, South Dakota. He graduated from Yankton, South Dakota high school, and then served in the United States Army. He received a B.A. degree from Dakota Wesleyan University, an M.A. degree from the University of South Dakota, and an Ed.D. degree from the University of Nebraska. Ross was a public school teacher and superintendent of schools in South Dakota and Nebraska from 1952 to 1963. From1963 to 1989 he was a professor of education at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He established the Foundation for International Education in 1978 and was its director until 2011. Family members plan to gather in late September to celebrate Ross’ life. A memorial fund is being established at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota.
