Ronald Lee Wilson, PhD, age 84 of Roberts, WI, died on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.
Ronald was born in Mishawaka, Indiana, on September 7, 1940, to Homer and Marian (Bunch) Wilson. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Wilson, on July 2, 1961, and were married for 63 years. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Brian, Tyler, and Brooke.
Ron graduated from Western Michigan University in 1966 earning his BS and MA degrees. He earned his PhD from Wyoming University. Ron taught at Delta College in Michigan, Nevada Northern Community College in Elko, Nevada, and University of Wisconsin – River Falls, where he was a Physics Professor from 1976 until his retirement in 2003.
Ron loved to go sailing and boating. He also liked trap shooting, fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Ron is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret; son, Tyler (Laurie) Wilson of Laramie, WY; daughter, Brooke (Dave) Secord of Paris, TX; sisters, Patricia “Diann” (Ted) Wallace of Columbia City, Indiana, and Sue (Bob) Jones of La Grange, Indiana; grandchildren, Derek Wilson, Jacob, Hope, and Hannah Secord, Lacey (Elliot) Niesl, Abby Johnson (Ryan), Weston Johnson, Kenzie (Michael) Medina; great grandchildren, Brayden Wilson, Louis, Kiera, Will, and Gus Niesl, Kaylee Thomas, and Max and Sully Medina; and many other relatives and friends.
Ron is preceded by his parents, Homer and Marian Wilson; his son, Brian; his brother, Randy; and his sister Tanya.
A Celebration of Ron’s Life was held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 4 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 805 E Division Street River Falls, WI and streamed live through the link just below this obituary. Visitation was on Saturday from 2-4 pm at the funeral home. Following the service, the celebration continued at Johnnies Bar 116 N Main St, River Falls, WI. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

Ron will be missed by many he was very friendly guy who treated everyone he came in contact with a bright smile. I am very sorry to the Wilson family for your loss!
We will all miss him so much. I will miss our long chats and his wisdom. He always kept us busy on one project or another and was a very understanding and wholesome person. He will be missed by many.
Ron was a one of a kind a man who had a special role in the lives he touched. I was so fortunate and blessed to have him in apart of my life and my family’s life as well. He will be greatly missed forever.
Ron was the kind of colleague who always wanted the outcome of a situation to be the best possible for all involved. He was simply that sort of guy. Glad for my chances to interact with him at UWRF quite a while ago now.
To the “tallest man in Wyoming” when he was here form the “Now tallest man in Wyoming, May God be with you on the rest of your Journey and until we can sail or hunt I will always be thinking of you Ron!
My deepest condolences to the Wilson family. Ron was a very accomplished man and an exceptionally dedicated educator.
