Roger John Neumann was born August 9, 1950 in St. Paul, MN to Leona (Goetschel) and Clarence (Jim) Neumann. He was called home to be with Jesus on August 14, 2018. He was 68 years old. Roger was baptized on August 27, 1950 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, No. St. Paul, MN. He was confirmed at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Farmington, WI. He attended Oak Knoll Country school and graduated from Osceola High School in 1968. He married Laurie Johnson at West Immanuel Lutheran Church on March 22, 1975. This union was blessed with three children, Bjorn, Crystal and Brett. His life was centered around the three “F’s”- Faith, Family and Farming. He served the Lord faithfully at Zion Lutheran Church on the Christian Day School Board and Church Council for many years. We rejoice that he is now joined with his loved ones who have gone before him. Family was very important to him. Nothing made him happier that to watch his children, and then his grandchildren, whether it be sporting events, church activities, showing cattle at the fair, tractor driving, pedal pulling, school plays and concerts, anything they were involved with. He was very proud of them all. His other great passion was farming. His family moved to the farm on “The Flat” in 1953. He was involved with the farm as soon as he could walk. Nothing gave him more satisfaction than planting and watching the crops grow, milking cows, harvesting and hauling the harvest to market. Cows and tractors, he loved it all. He enjoyed being involved with the Polk County FSA COC. In the past he also served on the Polk County Coop Board. He was a seed dealer for Renk Seed Co. for 45 years and enjoyed several trips with his fellow dealers. He was an avid pedal tractor, toy tractor, and big tractor collector. He was the instigator of pedal tractor pulling in Western Wisconsin beginning in 1983. He was the president of the Wisconsin State Pedal Pullers Association. Tractor pulling was another activity that he loved. He was an avid supporter of 4-H and FFA. He loved making new friends and watching kids grow through the years. Roger loved and lived life to the fullest. His main goal was to make people smile and be happy. His hearty laugh was infectious. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Leona Neumann. He is survived by his wife, Laurie; children, Bjorn (Jamie) Neumann of New Richmond, Crystal (Derek) Ruter of Shannon, IL, Brett (Beth) Neumann of River Falls, WI; grandchildren, Ben and Gabbie Neumann, Emma, Rielly and Payton Ruter, Brayden Richison, Haylee and Maddisyn Weidell, and Brynnleigh Neumann. A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11 am at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church 252 State Road 35 Osceola, WI. Visitation was also held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 8 – 11 am at the church. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Osceola, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.

Roger will be missed by so many people. His legacy is one that you all can be so thankful for. Praying peace and God’s loving arms to surround you all.
I can say Roger was a close friend in high school. My best memory was when the basketball coach called us aside and told Roger that the farming was too much for being in basketball and he was being cut. He told me farming wasn’t a problem but my lack of talent was…. 🙂 I will miss seeing him at various events but he and I know exactly where he is now and it’s a whole lot better.
