Roger Espersen 06/01/2018

Roger Espersen died peacefully on June 1, 2018 in Apache Junction, Arizona at the age of 84. Roger is survived by his wife, Jeanie Espersen; children, Lori Sather (Bob), Hammond, WI, Dave Espersen (Helen), Marshalltown, IA, Sue Jenkins (Ross), Sartell, MN, Jan Koshalek (Mike), Neenah, WI; step-children, Brad Anfinson (Sue), Osceola, WI, Lori Boles (Jim), Prescott, WI, Jill Filkens (Dennis), River Falls, WI, Jon Anfinson (Laurel), Ellsworth, WI; siblings, Lois Alberg, Lake Elmo, MN, Howard Espersen, New Richmond, WI; 26 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Edith Espersen of St. Paul, MN; wife, Frances (Daggit) Espersen, Cottage Grove, MN; infant daughter, Cottage Grove, MN; wife, Carol Mae (Rode) Espersen, Hammond, WI; son, Jeff Espersen, Spring Valley, WI; siblings, Betty Geene, Grand Rapids, MI, Ray Espersen, Brainerd, MN, and Bruce Espersen, Bloomington, MN. Roger was born on September 14, 1933, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Martin and Edith Espersen. He graduated from Harding High School, St. Paul, MN in 1951. He married Frances Lorraine Daggit on May 1, 1954. Roger worked for several contractors in the St. Paul area, building the South St. Paul Grain Towers, many homes, and various remodels. He married Carol Mae Rode on December 16, 1955. In 1959, Roger and Carol purchased a dairy farm and moved to rural Hammond, Wisconsin where they raised their family of 5 children. Roger married Jeanie Anfinson on August 14, 1982 in River Falls, Wisconsin, welcoming 4 stepchildren into his family centered life. In River Falls, Roger started his Roger Espersen Construction business, remodeling and building several family homes in the area. In 1998, Roger and Jeanie moved to Apache Junction to retire and enjoy the Arizona sunshine. Roger is remembered by many for his contagious laughter, positive conversation, and giving spirit. Roger was known for his many woodworking talents, creating furniture and gifts for his friends and special projects for his grandchildren. A visitation was scheduled for Roger at Trinity Lutheran Church on June 30, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Ralph Olsen will officiate the service. Trinity Lutheran Church is location at 1250 Broadway Street, Hammond, WI. A Celebration of Life and a lunch followed the memorial service at the Hammond Township Hall located at 1816 County Road E. All are welcome to attend and help the family celebrate Roger’s life. In light of Roger’s insatiable giving spirit, he had often stated that he would like to support St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital whenever possible. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family will be donating memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

    Roger was a friend of mine in St. Paul Park. When I got out of the military we were going to go in construction business together but he and brother went instead. They each married sisters
