Roger Ader 01/06/2020

Roger Lee Ader, 73, of New Richmond, WI, suddenly passed at his own home on the morning of January 6, 2020.  Roger is survived by his wife Dawn of 39 years, daughters Kristina (Andy) Deneen, Jill Ader, son Michael Ader, parents Merlyn and Elaine Ader, brother Danny (Cheryl) Ader, sister Kathy Ader, and many loving grandchildren: Thomas Ader, Zachary Ader, Brianna Deneen, Bella Deneen, Emma Lindgren, and Lily Rose Lindgren. Roger was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to everyone. He was the rock for his family and took care of everyone’s needs before his own. He supported and took great pride in all of his children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments throughout the years.  Roger was born in Menomonie, WI. He graduated from Lakewood Community College and also studied at the University of Minnesota, and Winona State University. He was also in the Army National Guard. Roger was very social on the North Saint Paul Polars High School reunion committee.  Roger loved sports, especially baseball, where his favorite team was the Minnesota Twins. He enjoyed coaching his children in baseball, basketball and softball. He worked as a salesman for over 40 years. He started his career at Writing Sales and moved onto United Stationers, followed by Paul Coriden and Associates and Inter-County Cooperative Publishing Association. He spent his free time working on his home, traveling to Duluth with his wife, going to Twins games with friends, taking his grandsons to sporting events, and enjoying the occasional Hallmark movie.  A service will be held at noon on Saturday January 18th followed by a Celebration of Life gathering from 1-4 pm at Lord of the Lakes Church at 25402 Itasca Ave N, Chisago City, MN 55025.  lordofthelakes.org

I have been in this industry for over 45 years, and Roger has been MORE that just a sales person calling in me all these years. What is special about this industry is the people that work in it become friends and family! Roger’s smile could light up a room when he entered it. I always looked forward to seeing Roger, he ALWAYS handled his customers with professional and timely responses. I will miss him dearly. He was a GREAT friend….Rest in Peace my friend!

We are so sad to hear this news. Roger was our sales associate for many, many years. We have a big Admin Day celebration every year and he was always the first to sign up to be there. I loved his laugh, his love for everyone and what I will miss most is his big bear hug I would get each time I would see him. He was also a great mentor to Scott and I and always had the best advice on business, he was like a DAD! I will miss him so very much. Peace and God’s Blessing to his entire family. What a Guy!

I will remember Roger as a special friend as will so many people. I will carry the great memories and wonderful times I had with Roger and his family for the rest of my life. Roger would like us not to be sad because it is over, but be happy because it happened and we were all a part of it. Roger’s kind soul will stay with us forever. I know you have entered the gates of heaven Roger, please keep the gates open for the rest of us. We will see you again there.

  • Clyde Doepner Posted January 12, 2020 4:45 pm

If you look up the word “smile” in the dictionary there should be a photo of Roger next to it as a perfect “definition” of the smile he always had! Our friendship goes back over 55 years. He was a great athlete and friend. The world truly lost a great human being! My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Roger was our neighbor for the years after he and Dawn moved to New Richmond. Marilynn and I immediately grew fond of Roger and Dawn. Roger was outgoing and we loved his laugh. Always had a smile on his face and a kind word. Loved talking with him about the Twins and Vikings and even politics and government. Sadly we never had a chance to attend a Twins game together. I am sure it would have been a lot of laughing and fun! Our hearts go out to Dawn, their children and grandchildren. There was no doubt he loved them all unconditionally. He will be greatly missed by his neighbors.

  • Jane Messer, Bernick’s Company Posted January 13, 2020 10:45 pm

Roger began to call on us about 5 years ago. He always made me feel like I was his most important customer. He was so delightful to chat with that I don’t know how he made it to all his accounts. I am not surprised at all to read all the wonderful comments from people whose lives he touched. So shocking to hear that he’s gone, just saw him a few days before. Sorry that I only knew him for a few years. My heart goes out to Dawn and your whole family, but the Lord blessed you all to have grown up with him. You will have many fond memories that will find you laughing out loud in the middle of the day. I know he will be immensely missed. Such a genuine, kind and joyful soul!

  • DAVID CHRISTIANSEN Posted January 13, 2020 10:53 pm

Dawn and Roger – memories that go way back. And kindness and good times, an older friendship and a connection through Jon Juehrs, the Tracy’s and Jon’s grandmother Minnie Henke whose family owned a farm close to the Aders in Wisconsin. But more so young children, young familes and friendship. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a gentle man and a kind friend.

  • DENNIS M MORRELL Posted January 17, 2020 1:51 pm

I had the good fortune of meeting Roger through a mutual friend I used to work with and enjoyed Roger’s company on two occasions. I would have been great to enjoy more of those visits. If someone who has only been around him twice was fortunate to remember him so well, I can only imagine how wonderful it was to know him better. While it is sad Roger has taken the step off to heaven sooner than we would have liked, there should be comfort and appreciation to the Lord that he blessed us with him in our lives. My hope is this feeling carries through his friends and family as they celebrate his life.

  • John Lewis Posted January 18, 2020 2:08 am

Roger was a true gentleman and a pleasure to work with. He also had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. Rest In Peace, Roger. And thanks for the memories. You’ll be missed.

  • Shari & Brian Wadnal Posted January 18, 2020 2:55 pm

We met Roger in 2010 when we had the good fortune of having Twins season ticket seats next to him and his good friend, Chuck. Baseball was definitely more fun with Roger there calling the plays and making us laugh. Our two sons also looked forward to seeing them at the games. They loved his humor. Soon we met Roger’s sweet wife Dawn at games too. We wish we could share caramel corn with Roger and bring him a beer one more time. Dawn – wishing you peace ?

Roger was a wonderful person. He always had a smile on his face and a contagious laugh that just made him a joy to be around. He will be missed by so many. So sad that we could not make his service today due to the bad weather. Breaks my heart that we could not be there. Love, hugs and prayers to everyone?

Roger and I were in the MN National Guard together long ago. We played on a Guard softball team together. It was a great time. I enjoyed his humbleness during a difficult Viet Nam war era.
