Roberta Wunrow 08/01/2019

Roberta M. Wunrow, age 80 of River Falls, WI, died on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN following as series of strokes.  Roberta was born the daughter of Robert and Gerda (Elstad) Schlough on November 8, 1938 in the town of New Haven, Dunn County, Wisconsin.  She grew up in Connorsville, WI and graduated from Boyceville High School with the class of 1956.  Roberta received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education and Counselling from the University of Wisconsin River Falls.  She was married to Ronald Wunrow on December 28, 1958 at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Connorsville, WI.  Ron’s military service took the new family to Ft. Campbell, KY.  They returned to Wisconsin and began their teaching careers.  Roberta taught Kindergarten in Hammond, WI and at Westside Elementary and Rocky Branch Elementary in River Falls, WI retiring in 1992.  In retirement, she enjoyed helping as a student teacher advisor.  Roberta and Ronald were charter members of Luther Memorial Church where Roberta served in many roles through the years.  She was also a member of AAUW (American Association of University Women).  Roberta liked to travel, read books, garden, and play games with family and friends.  She was passionate about teaching and loved to watercolor paint.  Roberta was a strong, confident professional woman.  She had a wonderful sense of humor, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was very generous to those around her.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gerda Schlough; husband, Ronald Wunrow; brother, Gerald (Eileen) Schlough; and sister-in-law, Virginia Schlough.  Roberta is survived her sons, Steven (Pamela) Wunrow, Daniel (Catherine) Wunrow, Christopher (Laurie) Wunrow; grandchildren, Alex Wunrow, Eric Wunrow, Benjamin (Ally) Wunrow, Greta Wunrow, Carly Wunrow, Ryleigh Wunrow; great-granddaughter, Finleigh Wunrow; siblings, James (Susan) Schlough, Lyndon Schlough, Cynthia (Bart) Halverson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 11 am at Luther Memorial Church 420 S 4th St, River Falls, WI.  Visitation was also on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 from 9-11 am at the church.  Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Luther Memorial Church.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

    Loved seeing all the pictures… the montage was so spectacular!! Mom sends her love, as we all do. She has struggled with the loss of her dear friend. I told her they will be together again. Prayers of peace to you all ❤️
