Roberta Jelle 01/03/2025

Roberta D. (nee Martell) Jelle, age 88 of Somerset, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Roberta was born in Janesville, Wisconsin, to Violet and Anthony Martell. After a brief move to Houlton when Roberta was very young, the Martell’s then moved to Somerset. Roberta attended Somerset schools from 2nd grade through high school graduation where she made many life-long friends.

Roberta married Vernon Jelle on December 2, 1967 and together they raised four sons.

Roberta was an avid reader; she loved shopping, travel, going to the casino, watching sports of any and every kind, loved TV cowboy westerns, and getting together with friends. Roberta loved being together with her family most of all, and they loved being with her.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Diana Krantz, and brother-in-law, Jim Lachaussie. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Vern, and four sons, Don (Deborah) Wishard, Brad (Tammie) Wishard, Bryan Wishard, and Tony (Joni) Wishard, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, brother John (Gayla) Martell, and sister Marlene Lachaussie, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Roberta’s family would like to thank Lakeview Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion. The family will have a private gathering, with future interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Cremation services provided by Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

So many great childhood memories of this beautiful Roberta. Her sparkling eyes and unique laugh will always be remembered. Heartfelt sympathies to Vern and all her boys and their families. Marsha (my mom) and she were very close back in the day and I can almost hear the giggles of them reuniting and meeting up with Joyce Hecht who also recently passed. Heaven just got even better. Praying for peace and understanding.

Rest in peace my beautiful Aunt Roberta. I have so many wonderful memories, but probably the one that makes me smile the most is the memory of the dog track. Aunt Roberta kept calling the dogs horses. We laughed so hard that day! I can still remember her laugh! I will always cherish the memories. She was definitely a beautiful soul and I can see why God brought her home.

My mom was good friends with Vern and Roberta in the 70-80s I think. She was a beautiful soul, inside and out. Thinking of Vern and family from Roberta WI.

Tears flying out of my eyes. She told me a week or so ago, “Move over Maxine, I am coming.” She and my mother had so much fun and so many laughs, especially after Dad’s passing in 1996. The wording of her obituarly is beautiful. She was fortunate and treasured her “loving husband and best friend,” along with 4 delightful sons and their families. I am so grateful to have known Roberta. Take care All! See you around, and I look very forward to it. LeeAnn

Roberta and our Mom and Dad were good friends of Vern and Roberta! Cuddie sold Avon and shared the same birthday as Vern! They would race to see who got up the earliest on June 3rd to wish each other a Happy Birthday! Roberta and rest of us would just laugh! Mom rang her doorbell every couple weeks selling her Avon! Roberta was a beautiful put together woman!! They were great neighbors with all of us! Her and Cuddie will be doing a lot of talking to catch up I’m sure! Thoughts and prayers to all of you from the Lange Gang!!🙏❤️🙏❤️
