Robert Ziller 09/12/2021

Robert “Bob” Ziller, age 88, of Lake Elmo, MN and formerly of New Richmond, WI, died Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, MN. Bob was born the son of Frank and Lucie (Krohn) Ziller on January 6, 1933, in Grand Island, NE. He grew up in Billings, MT graduating from Billings High School and Montana State University (1955). He married Rhoda Newstrom on December 2, 1961, at Holy Family Catholic Church in St. Louis Park, MN. Bob worked as an electrical engineer for several companies including Boeing, Honeywell, Lockheed, Fabri-Tek, and Doboy (now Syntegon Packaging Technology, formerly Bosch Packaging Technology, Inc.), retiring from Doboy in 1996 (30 years). He was a member of Toastmasters, Immaculate Conception Church, and the Republican Party. He served on the New Richmond School Board from 1999 – 2002. Bob was an editorial opinion writer for the New Richmond News. He enjoyed politics, reading, ham radio, playing golf, and being a reader at church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lucie Ziller; wife, Rhoda Ziller; and his sister, Joan Nessan. Bob is survived by his children, Kayna (Jim) Popnoe, Neal (Susan) Ziller, Carl (Cristina) Ziller, Audrey (Tim Cadwallader) Ziller; grandchildren, Christian Ziller, Caren Ziller, Rachael Ziller, Jacob Ziller, Sarah Ziller, Rebecca Ziller, Joshua Ziller, Elizabeth Ziller, Joseph Ziller, Clare Ziller, Caleb Ziller; great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Raelynn, Alayah, Logan; niece, Linda Gallaher; and many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://act.alz.org/) or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (151 S. Washington Ave, New Richmond, WI 54017). Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 11 am at Immaculate Conception Church 151 S Washington Avenue New Richmond, WI. Visitation was also on Saturday from 9-11 am at the church. Interment was in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

    Neal,,, My heart goes out to you, yours, and all loved ones of Dad(‘Bob”), and the many, many people that had a connection to him and graced his presence.

    I had the pleasure of working with Bob for a number of years at Doboy Packaging. He was a highly intelligent man that was so interesting to talk with. I can see and hear him as I sit here and think of him. My condolences to the family.
