Robert L. Rystrom, 86, died at home in River Falls after a brief illness on September 17, 2023. Bob was born in St. Paul on September 24, 1936, and grew up near Como Park. He attended the University of Minnesota, where he met the love of his life, Sally Geving, whom he married on August 26, 1960. Bob and Sally raised their family in Burnsville and Lakeville, Minnesota, where he was a loving and involved husband and father, attending events and coaching sports. Bob and Sally moved to Prescott to be closer to grandchildren and eventually settled in River Falls. Bob loved fishing, his many years at a family cabin “up north”, sports (especially kids and grandkids games and the Vikings and Twins), working outside at a family-owned farm, gatherings, and, most importantly, his life and adventures with Sally. They enjoyed family activities and events, golfing, special meals at home and out, and their other home in Venice, Florida. Bob was also an active entrepreneur and started and owned several companies involved in printing, human resources recruiting, and event management.

Bob was preceded in death by his parent’s Lloyd and Dorothy Rystrom. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sally Rystrom, sons Brent Rystrom (Kimberly) and Kelly Rystrom (Christine), grandchildren Caitlin Tudor-Savin (Andrew), Trevor Rystrom, and Samuel Rystrom (Amanda), bonus granddaughter Ivy Solum and great-grandson Rome, and a large and much-loved extended family.

A private family celebration of his life will be held in October. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
