Robert G. Peterson (1949-2026)
Robert G. Peterson, 76, of New Richmond, WI, died peacefully on February 6, 2026, at Regions Hospital, surrounded by family.
Bob grew up on the West End of St. Paul, where he attended Monroe HS, and worked for Red Owl Foods. In 1972, he married the love of his life, Marsha. In 1976, they moved from Cottage Grove, MN to New Richmond, WI to manage and eventually own the New Richmond Bootery. After selling the shoe store, Bob went to work for the NR News Print Shop, which he eventually purchased and operated for several years as Printing Plus. He later retired as an employee of the First National Community Bank. Over the years, Bob volunteered and served on the boards of many community non-profit organizations including Kiwanis, Jaycees, Willow River Rod & Gun Club and the New Richmond Chamber of Commerce. He was an ever-present volunteer at Fun Fest and Park Art Fairs and enjoyed grilling up his popular barbecued chicken at various town events.
Bob was also an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed duck and deer hunting with friends and family. He happily shared his favorite fishing hot spots with friends at Cast-Away RV Park on Lake Wapogasset where he and Marsha spent their summers in retirement.
He was a dedicated Dad to his two sons, Nate and Mike. He instilled his honest work ethic and leadership skills into his boys, but nothing brought out his smile as much as his two grandchildren who called him “Papa Boat.”
Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marsha, his two sons Nate (Teresa) and Mike (Chelsea) and two grandchildren Iva and Clark, and a grand-dog Curly; also brother Randy and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Harold and Rosalie and brother Kenny.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Monday, February 23 from 4–7pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services, 728 S. Knowles Avenue, New Richmond, WI.

A true friend and good neighbor for many years. He was always quick to offer a beer, usually with pictures of deer, bear, fish and wildlife on the can. Such a good Dad and community servant.
So sorry to read about Bob, always enjoyed a smile or chat with him. And, I will miss seeing him driving his red pickup truck. Marsha and I would always enjoy a laugh and chat about one thing or another. About the boys, I taught them at St. Mary’s and that was always an adventure! Enjoy your next adventures, Bob.
Great guy always a joke or at least a hardy “hi” He and I threw a few good horse shoes at Family Days at Willow River R & G. RIP Bob.
