Robert Crotty 08/19/2020

Robert “Bob” Leverne Crotty passed away in his home of 48 years in Hugo, Minnesota on the 19th of August, 2020 at the age of 79. He is preceded in death by his mother Mildred, father Howard, and older brother Jack Crotty. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Georgeann Crotty, children Steve Crotty, Lisa Crotty, Tia (Tyler) Halgren, and Zac Crotty, and brothers Jerry (Bonnie) Crotty, Dick (Donna) Crotty, and Frank (Miyako) Crotty, his late brother Jack’s wife Eileen, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Bob met his wife to be at Gabby’s Bar in Wisconsin, and they were married in Iowa on the 27th of February, 1960 in a double ceremony with their best friends Fred and Gail. In 1972 he bought and moved into the home he would spend the rest of his days. There he spent countless hours working in the yard and on the pond. First with Toro Wheel Horse mowers, and later with his fancy new Cub Cadet.

He spent most of his career as a salesman, first with Singer Sewing and later with Culligan, where he spent over 30 years. There he won numerous awards for top salesman across the United States, including family vacations where many wonderful memories were made.

After becoming born again in 1979 Bob spent many hours studying the Bible and trying to ascertain deeper meanings from the words therein. He would not describe himself as an intelligent man, but his diligent research and profound discoveries would argue that. Numbers in particular were a strong suit of his, and he could quickly do complex calculations in his head.

Throughout his life Bob loved to tell jokes (most of them ‘dad jokes’) and had a quirky sense of humor that never ceased to bring smiles to those around him.
He loved to watch storms, romantic comedies on the Hallmark channel, and listen to various preachers on tv and radio.

A gathering of his family and friends was held at Bakken Young Funeral & Cremation Services 782 S Knowles Avenue New Richmond, WI on August 29, 2020 from 2pm – 6pm.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
