Robert Howard “Bob” Campbell was born on March 30, 1958, in New Richmond, Wisconsin, and passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
Bob was a man whose life was shaped by his love of sports and his passion for teaching the game to others. From an early age, athletics were a constant source of joy for him—especially football and baseball. In high school, Bob, affectionately called “Soup” by those that knew and loved him, was well known for keeping meticulous football statistics, a reflection of his deep respect for the game and its details.
Baseball, in particular, became a lifelong calling. Bob devoted many years to coaching youth baseball, generously sharing his knowledge, patience, and love of the sport with thousands of young players over the years. To him, coaching was about more than wins and losses—it was about fundamentals, effort, and helping kids grow both on and off the field.
Bob will be remembered not only for his dedication to sports and coaching, but also for his sense of humor, quick wit, and the way he could bring levity to any situation. His steady presence on the sidelines and his genuine care for the kids he coached left a lasting impression that will continue to be felt for years to come.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William and Laurlyn (Peach) Campbell. He is survived by his sisters, Billie Jean Gast, and Michele (Tyler) Lebens, as well as 10 nieces and nephews, who will remember him with love and gratitude.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date, with time and date to be announced. Cremation provided by Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

Bob was a classmate from Kindergarten, St. Annes school and high school. Always wondered how life turned out for this gentle guy. So sad to hear he has passed.
I took care of Bob when he was at my facility. Always a sweet sweet guy who always had an ear to listen. You could sneak into his room when you needed to vent and he loved to listen to us “spill the tea”. Good times.
I worked at the facility he was in with him and he was a sweet person always had good advice and would listen he’s helped me through a lot and I’m glad that I got to be his caregiver
Bob and I grew up a few houses apart . We were constantly playing in each other’s yards.Either baseball football , hide , kicked the can or in the little baseball field across from bob’s house. Mr. Campbell would give us rides to school in this big, yellow Cadillac, playing yellow submarine and swerving back-and-forth down the road we know where Bob got his sense of humor from.! In HS he would aways make us laugh or have any sport stats you asked him.A great friend to have.Rest in peace Soup!!
