Rita Ellen Roth (October 29, 1930 – July 8, 2026)

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Rita Ellen Roth (nee Mueller) at the age of 95. She resided for the past 12 years at Bay Harbor Assisted Living in River Falls, WI.

Anyone who truly knew Rita, recognized her will of steel and heart of gold. She was a bold do-it-yourselfer and a person who told it like it was. Rita even had a tee shirt emblazoned with, “Old People Know Stuff”, in case there was any question. But, she was also always ready to be the voice for those in need.

Growing up during the Great Depression in Milwaukee with six siblings, she learned how to be strong and make the most of what came her way. Her Washington High School graduation was soon followed by a marriage to the handsome former Army MP, Ken Roth, and a house in the suburbs of West Allis, WI to accommodate their growing family.

Primarily a homemaker and mom, Rita became known for her sweet pickles, moist banana bread and tasty deviled eggs. She also was an avid knitter and crafter, sharing handmade scarves and creative holiday ornaments. She always looked forward to baking favorite Christmas cookies and hiding Easter baskets around the house for the kids. Rita loved parades (participating as a clown in a couple of them), as well as flowers (often keeping lavender seeds in her pocket to squeeze for fragrance).

Outside of the home, Rita was a devoted volunteer. At the West Allis Senior Center, she gained recognition from Governor Scott Walker for her work on The Council on Aging and The Drug and Alcohol Abuse Council. Rita also offered her skills to the West Allis Memorial Hospital, assisting staff and patients alike.

We will miss her uniqueness, her strength, her love. Rita is survived by her three children-Kenneth, Jr., Merry and Andrew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth and her six siblings; Bob, Joe, Don, Eileen, Howard and Patricia. Per Rita’s wishes, please consider making a donation in her name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

A Mass will be held in Rita’s honor at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in River Falls on Sunday, August 2nd at 11:00 am.

I did not know Rita, but I had an interaction with her not long ago.

I walked in to inquire about a job and Rita told me “ Anyone who walks through this door is blessed.” I visited with her just for a little bit and then I said goodbye Rita I will be back and I am 100 percent positive she is in Heaven she was someone who truly showed her faith. I was so blessed to meet her.
We will make a donation to St Jude’s when we can.
