Rickie Glenn Powers, age 57, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 5, 2011 in New Richmond, WI. Rick was born on January 23, 1954 in New Richmond, WI to Bud and Glendetta (Kiekhoefer) Powers. He graduated from New Richmond High School in 1972. He married the love of his life, Debbie Athman, on June 18, 1976 in Pierz, MN. Rick worked for the City of New Richmond as the Water Department Superintendent for many years. He had a love for his family and his favorite place to be was outdoors: motorcycle rides with his wife; fishing, hunting and camping with his children; four-wheeler rides with his grandchildren; and played many, many softball games with family and friends. Rick was preceded in death by his father, Calvin “Bud” Powers, Sr.; sisters Janet Hoppe and Sherry Bolder; niece Bethany Powers; Godchild, Bridgett (Powers) Andersen; and father-in-law, Coelestin “Cel” Athman. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Debbie; his four children, Carrie (Ryan) Zeldenrust, Scott (Sarah) Powers, Matthew (Megan Francis) Powers, and Marcia Powers; his grandchildren, Jeremy, Kyrsten, Derrick, Eve, Victor, Sylvia, and Brooklynn; his mother, Glendetta; his siblings, Cal (Phyllis) Powers, Jr, Ralph (Jill) Powers, Darryle (Renee) Powers, Daren (Tammy) Powers, Karen (Dave) Lutz, Brenda (Dave) Mesaros, and Perry (Tracie) Powers; and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He will be deeply missed. A visitation was held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 4 – 8 p.m. at Bakken- Young’s Beebe Mortuary in New Richmond, WI. A Christian funeral service was held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at First Lutheran Church in New Richmond with a visitation starting at 11 a.m. A Christian burial followed the service in the New Richmond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young’s Beebe Mortuary of New Richmond.
