Richard “Dick” Kley Jackson, Jr. age 61, of Hudson passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, May 10, 2020. He was born and raised in New Jersey and graduated from Hopatcong High School. Dick went on to graduate from Embrey Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach. He worked as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician at American Airlines for 27 years. He had a life-long love of airplanes. In 1981, he married Kristine Freericks, the couple was blessed with two children. Dick found enjoyment in jazz music, old westerns and traveling. Dick was proud to be a volunteer firefighter in New Jersey and Hudson. He is remembered by his family as a practical man that taught his children common sense and his adage “always buy 2”. Dick is survived by his wife, Kristine; daughter, Ashley (Justin) Bach; son, Matthew (Heather) Jackson; granddaughter, Harper Jackson; father and step-mother, Richard (Elaine) Jackson, Sr.; sister, Susan Jackson; brothers, Andrew (Candice) Jackson, Patrick (Meghan) Jackson; mother-in-law, Annabelle Freericks; nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Jackson; grandmother, Hannah Jackson; niece, Kirsten Ferry; father-in-law, Alfred Freericks; and aunt, Mary Louise McWalters. A private family service will take place May 12, 2020. A public visitation was held Friday, May 29, 2020 from 4-7 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (728 S Knowles Ave.) in New Richmond. A celebration of life service was held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 11 am with visitation one hour prior to the service at Bakken-Young as well. All guests (both days) will be required to wear their masks and practice CDC mitigation guidelines, which includes physical distancing. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

I remember Dick at the Metro Dome down on the field with Tom and I when Marching Band got to practice there one time! We were commenting on how different it looked from on the field!

So sorry. I remember Dick working on the fire trucks in Hopatcong. He had cut his finger and grabbed some electrical tape and wrapped it up. A sliced finger wasn’t going to slow him down.
please accept my condolences. My father was named Richard Jackson but he passed away in the late 1900s. I too have lived in Hopatcong and I was on the ambulance Service there for many years.
I was honored to have played in band with Dick for many years at Hopatcong HS. He was a great trumpet player. My condolences to his family.

I served with Dick in the Hopatcong Fire Department he was a great guy and nice to be around. So sad he passed away at such a young age. To the Jackson family we send our love and sympathy. Thomas and Mary Lou Atkins

I was socked and saddened to learn of the passing of my friend Dick.
We met at AA and spend years working together. I got to know Kristine, Ashley, Matt and his father Richard, a great family, great people.
Dick will always be remembered and loved, he has a permanent place in my heart.
