Richard “Dick” Williams, age 70, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at United Hospital, St Paul where he had been a patient the last month.
Dick was born on March 20, 1947 in Amery, Wisconsin to Harold and Edith Williams of Centuria, Wisconsin. He graduated from Unity High School in 1965, and later served in the U.S. Air Force.
He married Gayle Quist on July 8, 1967. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and worked for 3M in St. Paul for 34 years. During this time, he traveled throughout the United States.
He was a member of the River Falls Sportsman club where he held various offices. He enjoyed spending time with his family as well as hunting, fishing, trap shooting, and golf. Dick particularly liked watching the Green Bay Packers. He had a large personality and was often the “life of the party”.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ronald. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Gayle; 3 daughters all of River Falls, Kelly (Ryan) Schumacher, Kerry (Schon) Swick, Michelle (Jeramie) Dixon; 7 grandchildren Karlyn Schumacher, Evan Schumacher, Savanna Lombard, Logan Lombard, Sam Swick, Natalie Swick, Wyatt Dixon; brother, Kenny (Shirley) Williams of New Richmond, WI, brother-in-law, Jay (Heidi) Quist of Lindstrom, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Saturday, February 10 at Luther Memorial Church (420 S 4th St, River Falls, WI 54022) with visitation two hours prior to service with a meal to follow. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.

“Willy” and I became friends when we were both stationed at Grand Forks, Air Force Base, North Dakota back in 1968. Willy was a great guy; our whole family is saddened by his passing. Condolences to Gayle, kids and grand kids.
