Renee Louise Potter, age 71 of Star Prairie, WI, died on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.  Renee was born the daughter of Darryl and Mary Lou (Champeau) Kohls on November 26, 1954.  She grew up in St. Paul Park.  Her family moved to Wisconsin, and Renee attended New Richmond High School.  On June 21, 1975, Renee was married to Edmond D. Potter in Taylors Falls, MN.  Renee worked at the St. Croix Health Center in New Richmond.  After an injury, she went back to school and spent the rest of her career as a map technician in the zoning office for St. Croix County.  Renee loved to host and entertain friends and family.  She had an artists touch to making events personal and fun for those involved.  Renee was a genuine, thoughtful woman with a great sense of humor.  She is preceded in death by her father, Darryl Kohls and her sister and brother-in-law, Sheree (Gary) Kammerud.  Renee is survived by her husband, Ed Potter; children, Joe Kohls and Julie Peterson; grandchildren, Jeremy Kohls, Derek Peterson, Riley Peterson; mother, Mary Kohls; siblings, Tim Kohls, Rick (Lisa) Kohls, Ron Kohls; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  A Celebration of Renee’s Life was held on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 4-7 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 728 S Knowles Avenue New Richmond, WI.

    Ed, Julie and Joey, So very sorry to hear of Rene’s passing. We worked together for yrs. also we were neighbors for a few yrs. Praying you find peace and comfort in the love and memories you now have. God Bless you.

    So sorry to hear this. I worked with Renee at the County. She had a great sense of humor and she made everyone around her smile and laugh. She will be missed.

    A very nice tribute done here of Renee. I remember her well “back in the day” when we were all starting to settle down into our adult lives.
