Raymond Peterson 10/19/2014

Raymond “Ray” LaVon Peterson, of New Richmond, WI died on Sunday, Oct 19 surrounded in love by his family at The Gables.  Ray was born in Wanderoos to Oscar and Tilley (Martinson) Peterson. Ray graduated from New Richmond.  After High School he worked as a butter maker at Maple Island Dairy.  He owned and operated Peterson Dairy, delivering milk to New Richmond and the surrounding area for over 25 years. Ray was the head of a large family and lived a very active life!  You would see Ray at the ballpark, playing in his early years and later watching his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.  Baseball and fishing were his passions.  Many fishing stories cover generations of Ray’s family.  You would find him around town on his “normal rounds,” playing cards with friends and family, or watching his family play baseball, hockey or any Tiger sports.  If not at those places, you would inevitably find Ray watching the MN Twins, Wild, or Vikings on TV.  Ray was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joretta (Nygaard) Peterson, Brothers Clarence, Lyle, Harlan, and Mervyn, Sisters Gladys Jensen, Loretta Peterson, grandchildren Corey Peterson, Chad Peterson and great grandchildren Tyson Rousar, Jack Ulrich.  He is survived by children Greg (Carol) Peterson, Rhonda Shilts, Terry (Debbie) Peterson, Julie Peterson, Kevin Peterson, Laurie (Jeff) Tarman, Brian (Debbie) Peterson, Cindy (Rick) Melby, and Mike “Minnow” (Kerri) Peterson, 23 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, and sisters Lorraine Soderquist and Audrey Belisle.  A funeral service was held Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church (218 County Road K) in New Richmond.  Visitation was Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 4-8 pm at First Lutheran Church and also Wednesday from 10-11 am before the service.  Interment was in the New Richmond Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
