Ramona Severson 06/13/2014

Ramona V. Severson age 85 of New Richmond WI, formally of Minong, WI passed away very peacefully at the St. Croix Health Center on June 13th, 2014.  She was born November 20, 1928 in rural Osceola, WI.  In May 1946, she graduated from New Richmond High School.  On August 24, 1946, Ramona married Armond A. Severson.  They made their home and raised their family in Deer Park and Star Prairie until they moved to Minong in 1971. In March of 2013 she moved to New Richmond to be closer to family.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Armond, her parents Raymond and Alice Schmidt and sister, Audrey Schmidt.  She is survived by 3 sons and 1 daughter.  Gary (Cathy) Severson of Somerset, WI, Glenn “Red” (Val) Severson of New Richmond, Sandi (Jim) Thompson of New Richmond, and Ron (Shirley) Severson of Trego, WI; eleven grandchildren, Livie (Brent) Dillahay, Luke (Becky) Severson, Matt (Mel) Severson, Molly Christensen, Kristi (Mike) Shepherd, Robb Thompson, Cory (Kristin) Thompson, Tom “TJ” Thompson, Sammy (Dan) Gardeen, Luke Thompson, and Emily Severson; and fifteen great grandchildren, Liam Severson, Sam Christensen, Jens Christensen, Tyler Shepherd, Grace Shepherd, Ella Shepherd, Tina Thompson, Rylee Thompson, Reagan Thompson, Trenton Thompson, Alayna Thompson, Ethan Thompson, Tessa Thompson, Jax Thompson and Chloe Birk as well as nephew, Troy Schmidt of New Richmond WI, and many other extended family members, neighbors and friends. Ramona was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Minong.  She worked as a bookkeeper most of her life, working from Arbor Hill Tree Farms, to Auto Owners Insurance Co, to Link Bros, to Northwest CEP, to Big Bobs in Minong.  She loved all types of flowers, gardening, working in her yard, embroidery, crocheting, and knitting love gifts for family members, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed deer hunting,which she finally retired from when she turned 80.  Ramona also enjoyed reading, and keeping in touch with her family and friends, even via email.  To know her was to know she was one tough independent lady right to the end.  She will be remembered and missed by many.  A graveside service was held Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 11:00 am at Wascott Cemetery in the town of Wascott, WI.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
