Rachel Jordahl 11/26/2020

Rachel Ann Jordahl (nee Spaeth), 41, Ramsey, MN, died peacefully early Thanksgiving morning, November 26, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Rochester, MN. She was born on December 23, 1978, the oldest of three children to Wally and Margie Spaeth. She was preceded in death by her youngest brother, Mark Jonathan, April 3, 2010. Rachel grew up in Oak Creek, WI, graduating from Grace Lutheran School, and Oak Creek High School. She took business classes at Milwaukee Area Technical College, before moving to Minnesota. Rachel loved the fast pace of customer service work, employed from 2003 – 2011 at Carlson Marketing. She so enjoyed working for Bunzl Distribution until she passed.  Rachel is survived by her parents, brother David, his wife Heidi, and nephew, Noah Jonathan, 20 months, cousins, other family and many friends. In 2016, Rachel was diagnosed with 2 auto immune diseases which ravaged her body. The fall of 2020 Rachel contracted PML, a deadly virus that attacked her brain. Rachel received excellent care at the Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Mary’s Campus, Rochester, MN.  Rachel loved the Lord Jesus and went on a number of mission trips as a teen, and was active in her church, until becoming very ill. Her nephew, Noah, was sunshine in her life, a delight to Auntie Rachel, always bringing a smile to her face. Rachel loved animals, remembering her special dog Hiker (deceased) and sweet, rescued dog Pebbles, who was her constant companion. She had a squirrel swing set up in her yard. Rachel got such pleasure in watching the small mammals ski down her roof, hopping to the swing, enjoying corn cobs too. Rachel was a bright light. Her attitude and kind nature immediately put you at ease. Though I only met and worked with Rachel a handful of times, those that new her best and worked closest with her at Bunzl held her in the highest regard. She will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences to you and your extended family on such a profound loss.

Rachel I know you can’t read this anymore but I will see and hoping from wherever you are now you can see how sad I am. I didn’t spend that much time with you but I can definitely say you are the best manager I’ve ever had. Always caring and make sure everyone was OK around you. Having worked under your management was a wonderful experience and opportunity. May God give peace and strength to your family that you left behind you overcome your loss. Watch over them from heaven. You were amazing and very nice. Your smile was everything you needed to make people feel safe around you. Rest in peace and power. You will be dearly missed.

I didn’t know right away that Rachel passed, as she had moved to another church campus, but I can say that in the short amount of time we had spent together, I got an instant warmth and friendliness from Rachel. She radiated God’s love to me when I was in one of my life’s weakest times. I was always heartened to see her smile at church and enjoyed her quick wit and easy conversation. She was my age and I am deeply grieved to know there will be no more meetings with her in the hall or texts to say ‘how ya doing?’ She is definitely in the best place now, there is no doubt! She loved Jesus, boldly and unashamedly from my perspective. God, please comfort all who are in mourning and even through Rachel’s passing may more lost souls be drawn to You, in Jesus’name, Amen.
