Peter Engler 09/10/2020

Peter Bernard Edward Engler, age 83, died Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Hudson Hospital in Hudson, WI. He was born the son of Eduard and Ella Engler on January 19, 1937 in East London, South Africa. Peter grew up in East London graduating from De LaSalle High School. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Natal. He then moved to England and achieved a master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Imperial College London. After receiving his master’s degree, Peter worked on the Concorde airliner at the Royal Aircraft Establishment.
He married his wife Elizabeth Rider in 1966 and then moved to the United States. Peter worked in the fields of Dairy, Food Processing, and Packaging Engineering until his retirement. He loved wood working, gardening, and golfing. Peter was irreverent with a keen wit. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; sons, Edward, Stephen; grandson, Ethan; two brothers, Trevor and Ludolf; and many relatives in South Africa. Peter is preceded in death by his parents, Eduard and Ella; and brother, Desmond. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

    I was honored to be a colleague of Peter at Thiele Engineering in Edina. He was a true gentleman and an exceptional colleague. It was a joy to see his pleasure when he brought his two long-haired dauschhounds to work on the weekend. My most sincere condolences to you all.
