Paul Casey

Paul Casey died on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Westfields Hospital in New Richmond, Wisconsin. He was born on May 4, 1925 in New Richmond to Ronald & Eulalia (O’Connell) Casey. Paul was a longtime farmer, with a special fondness for Belgian Draft horses, Black Angus cattle, and straight corn rows. He loved to drive, and preferred the road he hadn’t been down yet. Paul was blessed with many friends. Much of his life he woke at 5 a.m. to join whoever might be at the coffee shop. Early in his life, whenever he drove through Star Prairie, he would point to the house with the dam and waterwheel and claim, “Someday I’m going to live there.” He bought the place in 1996 and has been living there since. On Sunday, May 19, Paul and Colleen went to mass, ate breakfast at the Friendly Bar, and read the paper. Then he took a drive on his Gator to check a few things out, returned, put the Gator in the garage, and then, at the front door of the house —when no one was looking—he snuck out of this world and into the next. It is just the way he would’ve wanted it. He never liked a fuss. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Catherine Schenher. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Colleen (Rice); children Paul (Sheryl) Casey, Edward (Mary) Casey, Tim (Martha Sanford) Casey, Mary Anne (Dick Krueger) Casey, Ted (Kristi) Casey; sister, Betty Mitchell; thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM, Thursday May 23, 2013 at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Visitation 4-7 PM Wednesday, May 22 at CULLEN CREA FUNERAL HOME in New Richmond, Wisconsin, and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Luncheon to follow burial.
