In Loving Memory of Joan Anderson
September 29, 1939 – August 30, 2026
Joan Anderson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home.
Joan was born on September 29, 1939, to Dwight and Leota Andrea in River Falls, Wisconsin. As the oldest of 12 children, family was at the center of her life from the very beginning. She graduated from The Wisconsin School for the Deaf in Delavan, Wisconsin—an accomplishment that remained an important and proud part of her life’s journey. It was there she met Marvin Anderson and they were married on August 20, 1960, in River Falls.
Together, Marvin and Joan built a life deeply rooted in family and cherished memories, welcoming four children into their world: Judy, Lou, Bonnie, and Peter.
Joan will always be remembered for her exceptionally kind and loving heart and who treasured her family above all else. Her amazing smile had the power to brighten any room, and her inherent warmth and gentle spirit made everyone around her feel instantly loved and welcomed.
Joan found true joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved to knit and crochet, beautifully decorate her home for the holidays, work on puzzles and word searches, and travel to experience new places. She especially enjoyed baking, always sharing the delicious treats she made with the people she loved. Joan also held a very special place in her heart for her animals, who brought her immense happiness, comfort, and companionship throughout her years.
Above all, Joan’s greatest legacy is her family. The love she gave so freely will live on forever in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her kindness, laughter, and loving spirit will be deeply missed, but the beautiful memories she created will be treasured for generations to come.

Children: Judy Rouleau, Lou (Charles) Hager, Bonnie (Mike) Munns; Daughter-in-law: Bonnie Anderson; Grandchildren: Joey (Steve), Traci, Elizebeth, Adam, Joshua (Samantha), Ethan (Rebbeca), Angelica (Bryan), Jessica (Evan), Maggie (Phil), Andrea (John), Jeremy (Lindsey), Elicia (Cameron), Corey (Johanna), Ryan (Kayla), Alex, Jordan (Kourtney); Great Grandchildren: Bailey, Kaleb, Chloe, Issak, Julius, Everly, Brindalyn, Ariella, Elizabeth, Logan, Addison, Ily, Arlyn, Emmitt, Willow, Peter; Siblings: Charles (Dixie) Andrea, Louise Lucken, Richard (Shelly) Andrea, Roger (Jan) Andrea, Ardys McDonald, Keith (Debbie) Andrea, Carol (David) Doriott, Dale Andrea, Duane Andrea, Bruce Andrea, Susan Andrea and cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by:
Parents: Dwight and Leota Andrea; husband: Marvin Anderson, son: Peter Anderson and grandchildren: Heather Hager and Olivia Simon.
Though she is no longer with us, her memory will remain a blessing to her family and everyone whose life she touched.

A celebration of life for Joan is being held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 from 1:00 – 4:00PM at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (805 E Division St) River Falls, Wisconsin, with a time of sharing at 4:00PM. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery will immediately follow and everyone is invited back to St. Croix Lanes (1153 St. Croix St) in River Falls for food and fellowship.
Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

I worked with Joan and Dale worked with Marvin. I do remember her smile. And then there was her sense of humour 😁. RIP
I worked with Joan for many years and she was always such a wonderful person. Prayers to her family
Marvin and Joan were our next door neighbors for many, many years. Our kids grew up together and became good friends.
So many great memories. Marvin would always make fun of me when I was doing something and would imitate me. It didn’t matter that they couldn’t hear or talk. We always made it work. (paper and pen) Joan was a Special and Sweet lady and we could not have asked for any nicer neighbors. My only regret is that when she moved away I didn’t go and visit with her more.
To her large family – please know I will be thinking of you and praying that God will grant you comfort and peace in the days, weeks and years ahead as you navigate through life without her. I’m going to miss her also.💞
