Norma Johnson 03/13/2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norma Belle Johnson, who left us on March 13, 2025, at the age of 85, with her family by her side.  Born on April 28, 1939, in Flint, Michigan, to Walter and Marybelle Smith, Norma spent her life spreading love and joy to everyone around her. She was a proud resident of New Richmond, Wisconsin.
Norma, a dedicated home health care worker, touched countless lives through her caring nature and soft-spoken demeanor. She had an infectious smile that could brighten up any room and a loving heart that made everyone feel welcome. While she had a gentle side, Norma was also known for her stubbornness and determination.
Her passions were diverse. Norma loved old movies, could often be found at the casino, and cherished family cookouts. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, cards and relished the simple pleasure of watching her grandkids play. Exploring the town on her scooter with her furry companion, Sassy, brought her immense joy.
Norma is survived by her children, Mary (Gary) Newton, Sheila (Dorman “Coke”) Arden, Shannan Watson and Gaylon Young; grandchildren, Paul “Dar”, Dale, Chrissy, Kassie (Tim), Duane “DJ”, Jake, Shawn, Blake, Kati (Stefanie), Josh (Erin), Heather, Kyle, Bryan and Kali; great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Marybelle; son, Robert Lee Houghtaling; and her best friend, Sassy. A celebration of Norma’s life will be held in the coming months, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the impact she had on all of us. Details about the service will be shared at a later date.
Interment will be in Argentine Cemetery in Argentine, Michigan.  Cremation services provided by Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

Rest in peace Norma. You raised some good people, I’ll tell ya. Gaylon is a good man. One of the best men I have ever known. Thank you for all the invites and treating me like a member of your family. You are all a part of mine. Love you all. And I’m very sorry Gaylon, Shannan, Sheila and family.
