Nila Erickson 05/31/2013

Nila May Erickson age 91 of New Richmond passed away peacefully at her home Friday, May 31, 2013, surrounded by her family.  She was born the daughter of Herman and Minnie (Gilberts) Berg on May 9, 1922 in Prairie Farm, WI.  On March 7, 1948, Nila married Robert Erickson in Sand Creek.  Together, Nila and Robert owned and operated the New Richmond Electric Shop.  They retired in 1984 and enjoyed traveling.  She was active on various committees at First Lutheran Church.  Nila loved to cook and made lefse and krumkaka as part of her Norwegian heritage.  She also enjoyed spending time with her family and her granddaughter, Brianna.  Nila is survived by her son, Paul (Dixie) Erickson of New Richmond; granddaughters, Linda Erickson of River Falls, Brianna Erickson of New Richmond; siblings, Amie Dobbs of Menomonie, Henry Berg of Sand Creek and Alden (Gert) Berg of Sand Creek; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, Mark; siblings, Morris, Archie, Lester, Fern, Alpha and Julian.  A funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at First Lutheran Church (218 County Road K) in New Richmond.  Visitation was also Tuesday from 9-11 am at the church.  Interment was in the New Richmond Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
