Dale Rustad 06/25/2026

Dale Alvin Rustad, age 90, made his final journey to Heaven on June 25, 2026.  He leaves with us a lifetime of wonderful memories, a beautifully built legacy, and a reminder to always root for the Packers.

Dale’s early years were spent in Modena and he was a 1954 graduate of Mondovi High School.  He worked for a lumber company before being drafted into the Army in 1959, where he spent his service time in air defense and played baseball.  He returned home to Wisconsin to marry the love of his life, Linda, sparking a 66-year romance.

Dale turned his passion for architecture, construction, and sales into a long career in the lumber and building industry.  He was a true craftsman who built two of his own family homes from the ground up and always had a design or remodeling project in the works for his customers.  He and Linda raised their family across Wild Rose, Marshfield, Waupaca, and Appleton, Wisconsin, as well as Apple Valley, Minnesota, filling each home with love.  In the latter part of his career, Dale and Linda moved to the warmth of Estero, Florida, where Dale merged sales with his love of sports by selling licensed sports collections before retiring at age 85.   He lived life to the fullest, fueled by country music, Green Bay Packers football, Brewers baseball, his family, and his faith in the Lord.

Dale’s legacy lives on through his wife, Linda; his children, Craig (Stephanie) and Heidi (Jim); his grandkids, Holt (Haylie), Morgan, Sam, and Riley (Maggie); and his great-grandkids, Lena, Brooks, Heidi and Hunter.

A special thank you to the caregivers at The Deerfield and Optage Hospice for the kind and compassionate care shown to Dale during his final weeks.

A celebration of Dale’s life will take place at 11:00AM on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (728 S Knowles Ave) New Richmond, Wisconsin.  Visitation will be held one hour prior.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church of New Richmond, Wisconsin.

‘In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.”  (John 14:2)

Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

I knew Dale when we were growing up in Modena. It was great to reconnect during winters in Florida. Our sympathy to Linda and family. He was a great person. Rest in peace, Dale.
