
Charles L. Johnson, age 88, of River Falls, WI died Friday, August 21, 2026 at his home. He was born to Charles W. and Amada (Richards) Johnson on May 7, 1938 in Roberts, WI. He attended school in River Falls.
He joined the Army in 1956-1959. On June 3, 1959, he married Elizabeth (Betty) Schullo in Iowa. He worked at United Refrigeration 5 ½ years then worked at UW River Falls for 5 ½ years after which he went into business as co-owner of River Falls Transfer from 1975-1995 at which time he retired and sold out.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles W. and Amada H. Johnson; sister, Judy Holen of Augusta, WI.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Schullo) Johnson; children, Charles A. (Annette) Johnson of Hastings, MN, June A. Johnson (Brian O’Brien) of River Falls, WI, Cynthia J. (John) Jones of River Falls, WI; sister, Barbara Harmon of Maiden Rock, WI; grandchildren, Nicholas and Kyle Johnson, Jamie (Jeremiah) Berryman, Ryan and Marc DeLeo, Danielle and Johnathan Jones; great-grandchildren, Easton DeLeo, Ayla Taylor; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, August 28, 2026 at 12:00 noon at St. Bridget Catholic Church (211 E Division St.) in River Falls. Visitation was also Friday from 10:00-12:00 at the church. Charles’ grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Military honors were provided by the American Legion Post #121 honor guard. Interment was in St. Bridget Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
