Carol Colbeth, age 88, of New Richmond, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. She was born to Vilas and Mildred (Weinke) Timm on January 31, 1938, in Gilman, WI. Carol grew up on the family farm in the Gilman area before moving with her family to a farm in New Richmond. She completed her schooling and graduated from New Richmond High School.
On June 28, 1958, Carol married Bernard Colbeth, and together they were blessed with three children: Mark, Linda, and Cindy. Carol worked for Beverly Enterprises, formerly Maple Manor Nursing Home, for her final 20 working years. She began as a CNA, later became a receptionist, and ultimately retired as the Business Office Manager. Prior to that, she was employed with Thorp Finance, Doughboy, and the Credit Bureau of Western Wisconsin. In her retirement years, she worked part‑time at Krueger’s Super Value.
Carol’s hobbies included attending family events, supporting her grandchildren at their activities, and spending time with longtime friends and her church family. She loved quiet moments reading—especially her Bible and devotional materials—doing word searches, playing solitaire on the computer, and traveling with her special group of girlfriends. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family.
She will be remembered as a loving mother and a proud grandmother. Known for being quiet and reserved yet incredibly strong, Carol was kind, compassionate, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She often found herself in fits of laughter with her sisters, children, or grandchildren—her laugh was truly contagious. Carol cared devotedly for her husband Bernie prior to his passing and stood by him through difficult times.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Vilas and Mildred Timm; her brother, Virgil Timm, sisters in law Agnes (Chicky) Timm and MaryJean Colbeth and brothers in law Mike Larson, LeRoy Larson, Seth Colbeth, Don Colbeth, Ron Colbeth, Thomas Colbeth; and her grandson, Joshua Colbeth. She is survived by her children Mark (Susan) Colbeth, Linda Nelson(Jim), and Cindy (Russ) Sternweis; her grandchildren Jacob (Alison) Nelson, Ashley Semaza, Sarah Nelson, Jared (Rachel) Nelson, Aleisha Colbeth, and Waylon Sternweis; and her great‑grandchildren Kristy Nelson, Jordy Nelson, Julia Nelson, Evelyn Nelson, Jeter Nelson, and Vera Nelson. She is also survived by her sisters Loretta Larson and Audrey Larson; brother‑in‑law Dick (Pat) Colbeth; and sisters‑in‑law Leona and Betsy Colbeth.
A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 3 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 728 S Knowles Avenue New Richmond, WI. Visitation will also be on Sunday from 1-3 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in the New Richmond Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

Sid, Lin & Mark & all family members: So sorry to hear about your loss of Carol. In our school years, she was like a second mom to me, who was a cool mom & almost like a friend. So kind, caring & sweet! She had a great & “sly” sense of humor that she passed on to both her daughters, as well. Always felt welcome, & loved spending time at the Colbeth’s! “Carlotta” was usually willing to lend her car to her younger daughter, “Sid,” (Cindy) one of my best friends, & still friends today!! I truly feel your loss. She was a wonderful woman!! She will never be forgotten!! Our deepest sympathy to all of you. Laura & Lenny
So sorry to hear of Carol’s passing! We were in choir together at St Lukes! I will miss her!
