Minnie Irene Larson (nee Cook), age 93 of Star Prairie, WI, joined her husband Hank and loved ones in Heaven on Friday, May 6,2016 after battling Alzheimer’s for 11 years. Minnie was born the daughter of Joseph and Lena (Shiefelbein) Cook on August 7, 1922 in Somerset, WI. She helped her parents with raising her ten siblings while working on the family farm in Deer Park, WI. Minnie met the love of her life, Henry Larson, and they were married on October 4, 1941 in Stillwater, MN. They purchased a farm in Star Prairie, WI in 1948. Henry and Minnie were blessed with four children. She liked to go bargain hunting at garage sales and going out dancing with Hank. Minnie was active with her family, church and 4H. She loved making different types of ceramics, doing crafts, and making Lefse. She always enjoyed a good game of cribbage or canasta. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lena Cook; husband, Henry Larson; 6 siblings, Myrtle Fischer, Pete Cook, Jim Cook, Bernie Singerhouse, Lois Hinz and Jerry Cook; daughter,Sandra;son in law, Walter and their unborn child; and grandson, Brent Measner. Minnie will be deeply missed by her children, DuWayne (Susie) Larson, Judy (Allen) Measner, and Linda (Dennis) Skifstad; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Knight, Rita Haines, Vera Wulf, Jeanette Fletch; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Thank you to all of Minnie’s caregivers who made her journey through Alzheimer’s peaceful. A Celebration of Minnie’s Life was held on Wednesday, May 11,2016 at 2 pm at West Immanuel Lutheran Church. Memorial visitation was also Wednesday from 1-2 pm at the church. Interment was in the West Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the St. Croix Health Center.
