Mindfulness and Grief

Mindfulness and Grief

by Julia Rajtar, MAPS, BCC

Bakken-Young Funeral and Cremation Services will be offering a different type of grief support group virtually, starting at the end of January 2026.  Julia Rajtar, Grief Coordinator, just became certified as a Mindfulness and Grief Coach.

So what is mindfulness and grief?

I invite you to pause. Take a slow breath in and out, and notice what it feels like to breathe. Notice your body sitting here in this moment. Notice any emotions or thoughts that are showing up. Right now, you don’t need to change anything or be a certain way. You’re just taking a moment to pay attention to yourself. What is happening right now? This simple act, pausing and noticing, is at the heart of the Mindfulness & Grief System.

This is an eight-week group that includes guided practices, gentle reflection, and supportive discussion.  People often feel more grounded, more present, and more equipped with tools for daily coping.

If you are interested in tending to your grief, maybe in a different way, consider this Self-Care for Grief group.  Group dates and registration information are in the link.
