Michael Kammeyer 07/14/2020

Michael “Mike” Kammeyer, age 61, of River Falls passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida, lived in San Diego, California and moved to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin to be closer to family. His love of warm weather, beaches and oceans stayed with him wherever he went. In 1979, Mike was united in marriage to Pamela Jasper and in 1984, the couple moved to River Falls, Wisconsin as a result of Mike’s job.

He worked as a senior technology and management consultant, embracing the roles of leader and mentor. Mike was proud of his work, the companies he worked at, and the many wonderful friendships he built along the way. Mike, not only loved the ocean, he loved his three grandsons, family fishing trips to Canada and his dog, Opie. He is remembered as a warm-hearted person who opened his home for a grilled meal and a place to stay.

Mike is survived by his wife, Pam; children, Amy (Raymond) Mitchell; Christopher Kammeyer; grandsons, Connor Mitchell, Gavin Mitchell, and Bhody Kammeyer; father, Lee Kammeyer; siblings, Sheryl (Elmer) Winchell, Tim Kammeyer, Lisa (Tom) Short, Vicki Kammeyer, John Kammeyer; several nieces, nephews and in-laws. He is preceded in death by his mother, Carol; and sister, Misty Sines. A family memorial service will take place at a later date. To Pam and Mike’s family: I had the privilege to know Mike and work with him in a short project in Minneapolis, but enough time to recognize his excellent personality, his strong expertise and great sense of humor. He always prioritized his family above everything and always spoke highly of the privilege of being a parent. I last saw him in St Paul for lunch last year and it was a great time catching up. I am very sorry for your loss. May Mike rest in peace.

So sorry to hear. Mike and I did not always agree but we always respected each other and kept our focus on the goal. As such we were able to draw on both of our strengths, experience, and knowledge allowing our groups to form a very effective working relationship. I learned a lot of valuable leadership knowledge from Mike. Thank you Sir!

I am shocked and saddened to have learned about Mike’s passing. He and I are former colleagues and we have kept in touch and shared stories about Opie, Hazel, Lilo and Stitch and then we shared cat rescue stories with Kitten and Garfunkel. I will miss his text messages and coffee invites. He was such a kind hearted individual and his laugh was intoxicating. A talented individual who will be missed here on earth, but forever in our hearts. God Bless Mike and his family.

Dear Pam and Family, upon first meeting Mike at NCS, I saw Mike’s experience, character, respect and care in his smile and way of being. What a unique blend of heart, smarts and wit he brought every day. And unlike many who’ve been around the career block, Mike kept learning and growing—a tribute to his good nature and big soul. I smile thinking of him as a talented employee or with glass of Merlot in hand. Like you I am so blessed to have known him all these years. He found joy in life and brought joy to others.

I had the great fortune to work for Mike in the late 90’s at NCS. A true mentor and leader, his type of character was scarce then and near extinct now. I still recall advice he offered in conversation, when facing current situations at the office, some 20+ years later. Prayers and peace for his family and friends.

  • Phil Holmer Posted July 23, 2020 11:42 pm

Mike has always been so very kind to me. Something he said that I will never forget, he learned more about leadership from being a father than any other place in his entire life. My prayers go out to his family.

  • Don Selby Posted July 24, 2020 12:41 pm

Very sad to hear, I already miss being able to call him or get a call from him. He was much more than a work colleague to me. We compared life stories on a semi regular basis. I know he was proud of his kids, their significant others and the grand kids. Missing that knowing snicker of his already.

  • John Anderson Posted July 24, 2020 4:53 pm

My deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences. Mike was a great mentor and had my greatest admiration. He respected and earned respect. A leader with an edge and a man with great conviction. I always enjoyed my discussions with Mike. He will be sadly missed.

  • Scott Nelson & Magdy Tadros Posted July 25, 2020 5:01 am

Pam, Amy and Christopher. Words fail me. Mike was so many things. He was a source of strength and confidence. He was kind but could be brutally honest if it was called for. For more than forty years he has been like a brother. Time and the treasure that is his memory will help ease the hurt. And help to heal the heart. Please remember that we are here for you, so don’t hesitate to speak up if we can help you. Sending peace, healing thoughts and love.

  • Mary Black Posted July 27, 2020 2:25 am
