Michael Berends 10/04/2024

Michael Raymond “Ralphie” Berends, age 67, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 4, 2024.  Mike was born to Ralph and Rachel Berends in New Richmond, Wisconsin on August 4, 1957, and was a 1975 graduate of New Richmond High School.  Upon graduation he started his career at Andersen Windows where he worked until his retirement.

Mike had a passion for hunting pheasant and deer, and cherished his time in the outdoors. He found joy in fishing, golfing, and a variety of sports.  He was a quiet, yet outgoing man with a great sense of humor and a quick wit.  He would lovingly tease people with his subtle sarcasm and great one liners, all with a silly smirk on his face.  His kindness and caring nature made him a friend to everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Mike is survived by his son, Tyler Berends; sisters, Jean (Steve) Meyer and Mary Jo Berends; nieces and nephews, Katie (Scott) Cole, Eric (Anna) Meyer and Scott (Sarah) Meyer; and many other friends and extended family.   He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Rachel Berends.

A memorial service has been planned for Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 2:00PM at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (728 S Knowles Ave) New Richmond, Wisconsin with visitation starting at 1:00PM.  A Celebration of Life will follow the service at the New Richmond Golf Course (1226 180th Ave) from 3:00-5:00PM.  Memorials preferred.

Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

Mikey took me to my high school senior Prom in 1975. My neighbour Wendell Knutson bribed him! He let Mike use his convertible sky blue corvette that night. What a hoot! Mike always made me laugh! Great memories!

Lots of great childhood memories hanging out with Ralphie in the summers and playing baseball with him from Little League through High School. Certainly one of a kind, that will not be forgotten. Heartfelt condolences to MJ, Jean, and the rest of the family.
