Melvin Kruizenga 11/25/2022

Melvin (Mel) Leroy Kruizenga, 88, of Star Prairie, WI, passed away peacefully at home November 25th, 2022. Mel was born to Dick and Hattie (VanWhye) Kruizenga on July 19th, 1934 in Sioux Co. Iowa. Mel was a 3rd generation farmer, he married Carole VanDerWilt on February 12th,1954 in Clinton, WI. Together they farmed in Darien, WI. In December of 1954 they sold the herd of cows when Mel was drafted into the Army, following his service, in 1956 Mel returned to WI to farm again. In 1968 the family moved to Star Prairie, WI where they continued farming. Mel and Carole were blessed with 7 children. In 1978 Mel and Carole started to visit Florida in the winter, this continued every year. On March 1, 2009 Mel lost his wife Carole of 55 years to cancer. On May 23, 2010 Mel and Crystal (Koster) were married in New Richmond, WI. Mel and Crystal spent their winters in Florida and the summers in Star Prairie where Mel continued to enjoy helping on the farm, spending time with family, and playing 3 to 13. Mel is survived by his wife Crystal, children: Malva (Tom) Sirek of New Richmond, WI, Kevin (Cheryl) Kruizenga of Cumberland, WI, Keith (Linda) Kruizenga of Star Prairie, WI, Kurt (Pamela) Kruizenga of Longville, MN, Wayne (Julie) Kruizenga of Viroqua, WI, Kraig (Jolene) Kruizenga of Champlin, MN, Ken Kruizenga of Star Prairie, WI, Dean Weber of Amery, WI, Yvonne Alles of Byron Center, MI, Bob (Lisa) Koster of Byron Center, MI, Bill (Mary) Koster of Canyon Lake, CA, Kristi (Kurt) Huizinga of Byron Center, MI, and Kevin Koster of Byron Center, MI, 46 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Sister-in-law Leona Kruizenga, and many nieces and nephews. Mel was the last of his siblings to leave this earth, and in interest of not writing an entire book we will not list all the names of those who preceded in death, but Mel did live a long and blessed life. He loved the Lord with his whole heart, faithfully attended church, read his bible often, attended bible studies, and was steadfast in prayer. A special Thank you to Adoray Home Health & Hospice.  A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11 am at the First Baptist Church 341 North Shore Drive New Richmond, WI and streamed live through the link just below this obituary.  Visitation was held on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 4-8 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 728 S Knowles Avenue New Richmond, WI and on Saturday from 10-11 am at the church.  Interment was in the Wagon Landing Cemetery in the town of Alden, Polk county, WI.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
